The Lying Disease was a weird read for me. I've always been pretty sure that my mother's mother had Munchausen syndrome by proxy so badly that she neglected her own mother to death, all because the sicker my great-grandmother was, the harder she could say this all was on herself. "It's so hard," she'd say as she starved her elderly mother and developmentally disabled dependent brother. "People just don't know how hard it is."
