Erm, where do I begin? I ran a small little webcomic that nobody's heard of, I game, I read books, I listen to music, I play violent video games on occasion. Mostly, though, I collect links and I write things. Sometimes those interests overlap, into things like listening to video game remixes or writing fic about media properties. I occasionally decide that I want to try sketching and drawing on occasion. I'm trying to get better about allowing for "ish" to be sufficient.

Once upon the once upon, when we were still blaming Brad in his dorm room (actually, we're still blaming Brad in his dorm room), an entity of this same user name joined LiveJournal and found a bunch of very interesting people there. As time went on, LiveJournal grew and the circle of friends grew with it, but when LiveJournal, as so many social media sites do, was sold and then came under the control of the advertisers, I jumped over to Dreamwidth as a safeguard against the likelihood that the advertisers would once again demand the purging of content. For some significant time (nearly a decade), I kept one foot in both places, as not everyone moved from LJ to DW. The importer made the transition smooth, the crossposter made it easy to talk to both audiences and receive comments from the same. Then LiveJournal was sold to an arm of the government of the Russian Federation, and from there, we no longer had to worry about the advertisers, and instead, we had to worry about the laws that were intended to discriminate and censor. The crossposting stopped then. Some time after that, I burnt the house that was still standing on Livejournal to ash and salted the earth underneath it, before letting it die in the deletion queue. I am sorry that it has gone - it was a large part of my internet life, but such is the way of things.

I'm also still part, in that nobody has taken away my pope card, of a really cool group of people called the Knights of Jubal, a group that that was founded in an attempt to make chivalric practice more applicable to modern times, based on the self-sacrificing behavior of a character in a web comic. That, too, is mostly on hold. And I may be the one left who remembers it well enough to talk about it. More and more, I think the idea behind it is still solid and good and about doing things well, but the idea of chivalric practice was always about the people of privilege learning how to treat the people who don't have privilege well, and I feel like that idea is less useful in our current world, where treating people well often means helping them, and that the people who are the nobles of our world seem not to give much of a damn about others.

I have been dubbed Stewie, the mastermind behind the Four Commenters of the Apocalypse. It makes me youthful in appearance, with a predilection towards taking over, but always being foiled at the last minute by a shiny distraction or something cute.

Physically speaking, I will probably tell you that I'm not much to look at. It is up to you to decide whether or not I'm telling you the truth or my insecurity is coming through. Professionally, I'm still a polymath-in-training. I pay the bills by telling stories and making information appear from the wilds of the Internet. This sometimes is harder than it looks, and more often than not, it requires translating back and forth between Human and Machine, and there's almost always some information lost in the process. Fannishly, I'm a Fandom Old at this point, since I've been through the process where I was on a platform that had All The Fandom, and then the Advertisers interfered and crushed the fandom, which left for other places, and I have now seen this process happen several times to other platforms, where all the fandom apparently left for, so I am rapidly approaching the point of being a Fandom Great Old One, with all the "what are all these old people doing in my fandom space?" that I will get as flack from people who are just starting their fannish journeys.

I tend to irrationally believe that I'm really someone else other than the person I aspire to be. You would think that after enough opportunities to prove myself otherwise, I would take the hint and believe that WYSIWYG, but that's not something that's happened yet. I tend to be caustic about willful ignorance, people who actively try to suppress other people, and people who have the power and clout to make changes that would benefit everyone and instead enrich themselves at the expense of others.

This space has sort of settled into a roundup of Strange and Wonderful Things I Found on the Intarwebs Today/Over the Last (X) Days/Months. There are occasional interspersions of other material, but for the most part, it's a big long list of links with commentary.

This blog discusses and links to such subjects as news, politics, and the opinions of others. I try to be as descriptive as possible when it comes to links and content on the blog, but I must trust that my readers will take that information and apply their judgment as to whether this could be triggering content for them. My apologies if my description is insufficient and you encounter content you did not feel prepared for.
