The greatest irony of Protestant Christianity is that most of its strains were founded in the idea that the holy books need to be in the vernacular language, so that the people can read the work themselves and come to their own conclusions. A fair humber of those strains have come back around to the idea that the pastor is the direct line to the deity and to unquestioningly follow him and his interpretation, no thinking required. (Marginally better are those that seek a pastor who confirms their prejudices and beliefs, rather than one that challenges them and demands they engage with the text and the prejudices of the translators.)

To their credit, mmany of the neopagan things I read that were aimed at beginners or solitary practitioners did mention the year and a day idea of taking time to study and practice and to commit to it through the entire cycle.
