Yes, I’ve often seen “fusion” mean “I took the plot of one story and cast it with the characters of another” (think of any sitcom xmas episode in which the plot recapitulates A Christmas Carol or It’s a Wonderful Life*), which as a reader usually isn’t my cup of tea.
