Tuesday: Facefault v. Segfault.

Well, I just found out, trying to print, that apparently the upgrade to Dapper borked CUPS. Whether it's K's fault or CUPS's, or something else entirely, we're not happy. Although we're glad we noticed it now rather than when a paper was due. So now we're trying to wrestle the CUPS server into enough of a submission hold that it will detect the HP printer that worked perfectly in Breezy and be able to print to it. Not an easy thing.

To take our mind of this, we produce the football urinal.

Video game rehab center opens. Not that I want the stigma attached to video games like that, but perhaps it will serve some purpose for those who may truly be addicted to the on-line world. I can't see it being of any use otherwise. Unless they think they can "cure" the nonexistent violent tendencies of video gamers.

An easy way to get a virus/trojan on a network? Seed it with free USB drives without being noticed. In this experiment, apparently it works like a charm.

Bad visual design examples, or the no-nos of graph construction (KISS principle usually applies here. If the graph is too complex, it's probably undreadable.)

But ending where we began, look at this arcade cabinet room. (V. Image Heavy.) If you're all for retro gaming, this place will definitely make you feel like a kid again. It's nice to have that kind of space to put an arcade and the various posters in. Although I think the electric bill could be a problem...

What's CUPS?

and is that why you seemed distracted this evening?

*nods* not being able to print is bad. I hope you can get it working again soon.

FAULT WINS

SEGMENTALITY

Man, the Religious Right needs to find some new tactics. The threat of increased promiscuity? If that had worked earlier, we wouldn't have rock and roll.

The HPV story is actually by [livejournal.com profile] rivka who is a friend of [livejournal.com profile] droewyn's

so we can go play games in the arcade room, and then head to amsterdam for rehab? heh. but really, the gaming room is pretty nifty looking, but I'd oworry bout the electricity too!

The bad graphs make me cry. ouch. Who the heck came up with those graphs and please can we teach them proper statistical representation?
