Borrowing the broadband again
Once again, borrowing some connectivity to enjoy myself. The new desktop size is fantastic, and I am very happy with it. Little brother bought Final Fantasy XII today, and so I got to see very little of that. Interesting thoughts, although I was making a lot of references backwards to other games, and other styles of movie and art. The combat system and the Licence grid look to be an interesting object to puzzle out.
Those who are fans of His Dark Materials, The Golden Compass is being made into a movie. So you may have to defend yourselves against an onslaught of persons who see the movie and then decry the book. Or gird yourselves up to decry the movie if it sucks.
While the politicians continue to complain and decry the potential Muslim-ness of Senators or Presidential candidates, the military would like you to believe that they're actively recruiting Muslim candidates. American Samidzat has a somewhat different opinion of the matter. With the hostility of the populace toward Muslim folk, whether domestically or foreign, I’m more inclined to believe that the recruitment is either saying to the people, “No, really! We’re not crusaders, despite what our politicians keep saying!” or is trying to put up a good front so that the millitary doesn’t get slapped around as hard by people saying that it’s only crusaders that they want.
In the future, Google may very well have taken over and are sending out robots to collect data about the world. Read the FAQ for Google Robots in 2030 and let them know whether or not there are more questions that yet need to be answered.
If down on your luck, or a regular resident of the government’s assistance programs, or want to see what a chef can do with ingredients rescued and used for assisting the needy, and in the New York area, it might be worth checking out the Four-Star Soup Kitchen, a wonderful endeavour to not only make the meals filling and nutritious, but good tasting and good-looking, as well. After food, there’s television for most people. Public ariwaves are regulated by the FCC, who tend to crack down hard on people they say violate guidelines. some of the networks are pushing back, and a court has suggested that perhaps TV-watching is the province of the parent, not the government. There’s also a good point about the nature of satellite and cable television, which can have much raunchier content with no oversight, and which a lot of kids and adults are watching now, anyway. Shock and awe, someone suggested that maybe parents should stop using TV as a babysitter and actually parent. What will this world come to?
Some reminder tips for aspiring web designers - here's a list of ten things you don't ever want to do.
And last tonight, but certainly not least, and well worth the read - want to know how badly Windows Vista will fuck with your computer? Just how many pitfalls are likely to get in your way and force you to either be super-cutting-edge or deal with lossy upscaling. This is what Vista will do to you. Read, and consider yourself warned.

Thank goodness SOMEONE is finally pointing this fact out. Parents really need to just PAY MORE ATTENTION to what their kids are doing! And going after NBC or ABC for showing a sex scene or something overly violent isn't going to to stop the kids from watching sex or violence on the other channels! Even without having channels like HBO and Cinemax, there are still plenty of channels that show "inappropriate" content. Heck, Sex and the City is now syndicated. I understand they took out the overly steamy scenes for syndicate, but does that really make it any better?
You know, I was really shocked the other day to hear "bastard" on TV, but I can't remember what channel or show I was watching.
