Write Every Day: 23 August 02019
Greetings! This is the Write Every Day Check-in post for 23 August 02019.
I posted a thing I had written over the last couple days today, somewhat unintentionally near the century-kudos mark for the first one in the series. The fact that I can say that work had hit nearly 100 kudos at the time I posted part two of the series says that the fandom in question is massive and numerous that they can spare a hundred kudos for me. (And says a lot about where the niches and spots are in the fandom that something like this work can collect 100 kudos.) Since posting it earlier in the day, the new work is already a quarter of the way to its own century mark, which is certainly something of its own. I think I keep underestimating how big the fandom is, and then it keeps reminding me by making works from a not-really-anything in the fandom collect more kudos than many of the other works I've done.
At this point is where I would usually tell someone else (including the other person in the fandom who is much more of a presence, given the personal land-speed records they have set for kudos accumulation on their work) that good writing shows through. I can remind myself that I've been at writing for a very long time, even if I'm relatively new to the fic department, and all that time and skill put to work doing other kinds of writing is relevant and has helped give me a solid base to write fic upon.
Not that it does much more than temporarily quiet the agitated brainweasel squadron, but temporary respite is still a good thing. The weasels also took a respite when a recipient commented on an exchange fic I'd left them and had good things to say about it. I was beginning to wonder I was about to go 0-for-2 on comments on exchange fics.
I also added words to an assignment, to the big WIP, and I went back over a draft with an eye to catching autocucumber, making a few corrections there as well.

I've started feeling better - massively sore throat yesterday, but eyes and limbs no longer hurting, so writing is easier. I did some freewriting about what I want to write, including brainstorming/musing on the short story I started writing during my travels. I just started writing it, and apparently there's some kind of massive intricate plot going on and I've very little idea what it is so I hope I figure it out as I go on.
I also battled for embarrassingly long with how to refill the fountain pen I bought on my trip, considering how easy it actually is. But, I succeeded, and I'm now very happy about writing with a fountain pen. It's much more comfortable than even the best ball-points I've found.
(Er, sorry for all the rambling, you can tell I've been rather isolated for a few days.)

Sometimes we get recommended to others without ever knowing that it happened, because it's on another platform, by someone we don't otherwise know, but who wanted their followers to know they enjoyed the work. That's what happened with my far-and-away most kudoed work ever, except that someone else found the spot where at least one rec had happened.
I don't really search for my own work names, so I didn't know that was what happened, just that a lot of people left kudos and comments.
I hope the plot, even if it is intricate and complex, doesn't need to be wrangled too much.
