Write Every Day: 16 November 02019

Greetings! This is the Write Every Day Check-In Post for 16 November 02019.

I took the bus up a county today to go to convention today. This is the convention I look forward to for getting those good fannish itches scratched in conversation with other people, in listening to panelists, and in participating in the hallway track (which is always the best part of any convention, especially when you get the right people together). Tomorrow looks to be much of the same, which is excellent.

In writing, because the space in which the convention is held is not one that I get reliable signal in, I ended up doing a significant amount of writing (in addition to the panels I was listening to or in between while I was writing.) I found the ending to the last assignment that wasn't in draft, yay, and then added significant material to the backburnered project, and finished out a post for the queue of the Giving of Grief, since I didn't need the source material to finish that post and put it in the queue.

And then an exchange archive opened, and there were things to read, and there will probably be some amount of queueing those up for when I'm in a bandwidth-deficient zone so that I can work through that archive in a timely manner. I also had a fast response to the work from the intended recipient, who enjoyed it. So much yay all around. (And the person who wrote for me, whomever they are, said that I gave them a good prompt. In return, they gave me a good work.)

Day 17: 688 words on story #6. I was hoping to finish a draft today, or at least make more progress, but I'm still flailing around trying to figure out what happens next and how it ends. Maybe tomorrow... :-)

Day 16: edited one section of the draft for a net of 15 words, but my WIP got all my focus and productivity today, with 2,259 words. Also, finished up Yuletide canon review, and jotted down a few words of notes on my assignment.

I finished edits to my Femslash Exchange fic (after beta comments) and posted the final version. Whew. I do wish I'd had a bit more time between finishing and the reveals, because now I'm terrified to look at any comments to the fic because I'm in that stage where I'm convinced it's terrible.

Also managed to do 106 words of the novel, just to reach that daily goal. Maybe now that the exchange fic is taken care of, I'll be able to devote a bit more time and energy to the novel and other writing.

Nov. 16: wrote. Mostly twiddling with the end of the story I started on Friday. Didn't quite squeeze a satisfactory ending from it, and I still can't decide if that's because it shouldn't be a stand-alone, but part one of a multi-part. (Augh, decisions!)

Write the standalone ending, and if you decide it's really a multi-part, switch it out for the other one?

I'm trying to write the stand-alone ending, but it's resistant to being written. Which might just be endings-are-persnickety, but might also be a case of it-shouldn't-end-here.

Maybe. Words fighting me is definitely one of those things that suggests I need to think about it more.

I hope the second day of convention is/was equally as nice!
I'm checking in with 2,3k for the 16th, all written for NaNo, and also already for today for I'm finished for the day for once, with 2,5k, 2k of this for NaNo. NaNo is going decently again after I managed to get the narrative part going again, and am now at 33881 words overall.
