And this began another day...
Aug. 1st, 2005 10:42 pm...and it came to a close. Nothing superior at all. Nothing special. Just work. Just work. This is a Green entry, really.
If you want some answers to that dratted toast-falling problem, here's the straight dope on it. If you're curious as to why people espousing good behavior tend to get run over by those practicing bad, here's an example of long ago: The Cathars.
There's also this handy advertising template that I found. Would be good for analyzing anything of that nature that you come across. And now, to bed. Why do I make such small and pointless posts? Because I can?
More because it's a habit, and I'm very much a creature of habit.
And since it's a nice fluffy entry, unlike the deadlier ones of before, I'll say this, as well - I have my diploma from my Bachelor's. Graduated with High Distinction and High Honors. Now it goes downhill.
Dentist appointment tomorrow - if on top of things, haircut and book-buying may follow before meeting. Although that may mean less book buying and more making/buying dinner. Maybe. Still need to do research for meeting as well. Will need printouts, most likely. That could make things rather interesting.
Incidentally, FLEET is mad. Completely, and utterly, insane. But in a very, very, good way.

Date: 2005-08-02 03:30 pm (UTC)I was going to quibble with portraying the Cathars as good and the Pope as bad as an oversimplification, but it occurs to me it's a perfectly accurate summation, so I won't. I will add that the Cathars were largely peaceful, I think, mainly because they simply hadn't faced the corrupting effects of power as much, or as long. They'd started with the forced conversions in some places, but that was as far as they got; they were up against a religious authority that had had centuries to come to terms with abusing power, and had begun to lose the spiritual vitality necessary to deal with the problem any other way.
The Cathars are lucky, in a way, that they never got the chance to degenerate to the point of committing atrocities in the name of Catharism in the way Crusaders did in the name of Catholicism. But I think that was inevitable, given that their doctrines were such an ideological threat to mediaeval society that being completely peaceful was pretty much their only chance to survive. The Crusade only got off the ground when the murder of the papal legate suggested they weren't.
(I'm myself slightly biased in all this - I find Cathar doctrine almost as repulsive as the mediaevals did: that physical existence is intrinsically evil, that childbearing is bad and sex so evil that the meat of sexual creatures cannot be eaten, are as anathema to me as to the Pope. That oaths are wrong and not to be taken was possibly asking for trouble in an oath-based feudal society, although that's not an easy one to care about now.)
