Things are fixed and not fixed out here in LJ land, so if things are still a bit eccentric, it's not me, it's Them. Power failures make servers very unhappy.

As UMMUN probably should have realized by now - viruses make delegate research damn near impossible. I thought after last year's debacle they had it under control, but it was otherwise. So now we're running Knoppix with the exception of the printing computer, which runs Windows. Have I mentioned that the OpenOffice suite on Knoppix may or may not save in a Word-recognizeable format? (for me, that means go to plaintext, but as a last resort, usually)

That said, this year's Crisis has moved about as smoothly as the older-style ones I was emulating - hiccups where delegates were waiting for me to explain everything to them (I wasn't going to), and where they get bogged down in details (almost everywhere else). That said, the schedule I set for myself was adhered to, for the most part. A couple of laggards, a few first-draft resolutions sent back for additional work, but things are working semi-smoothly, and tomorrow, we just get to pass stuff upwards and answer a few questions (we were doing that for most of today). I've got positive comments from talking with a couple advisors as well, and they seemed to like the idea and the format. Maybe next year I can get my first idea through instead of a second. We'll see what happens, but for now, I think I've managed to cement Crisis into UMMUN as a necessary component. Depending on my grad school stuff, I may reprise the role next year, but we'll see if they'll have me.

So things have gone as well or better than they have before, and I've been getting compliments on it, even from the people who I might not have thought wanted Crisis this year. Thanks, N(different than roommate), for going to bat for us with the Secretariat, and S (Roommate from past semesters), too: I have a suspicion your hand was involved in this.

I love you guys. No, wait, that's the chemical weapons talking. At least it's not bad acupuncture making me unattractive. I'm not lying, I swear. Is it bad if you swear by yourself? That'll probably give somebody the hiccups just thinking about it.

So one half-day of sorts to go tomorrow - I let my staff sleep in an extra hour or so, so that they're happy and that I can get the necessary things I want done (one thing, basically, not counting questions and such) for the end of the conference. Then there'll probably be a long meeting, and then I'll be free again. Well, sort of. We do get Monday off to recover (to some degree), but on Tuesday we start work and classes again. Draft due Friday, seeing instructor on Monday to get citations down, all that sort of thing. So it's a breather, but not really a breather. Luckily, I should get out of it not needing to take more than a few heads.

So I'm going to have a little fun before I go to bed. After all, I still have to get up at my normal time.
