Accomplishments today - one story mode of game complete, one opening ceremonies watched... and one homework assignment completed. Yeah, yeah, had to get some sort of work done, I suppose. Maybe tomorrow, if I'm not caught up in watching women's ice hockey, I'll get some part of other work done. Actually, I might be getting work done while I'm watching women's ice hockey...

Anyway. I'm always happier when the Olympics come around (so I'm very much into watching sport - of almost any kind), but there's plenty of interesting stuff I've seen that doesn't involve the Phoenix Coyotes and some sort of betting enterprise. Sweet sculpturing and the cleanup involved with some of that. Taken to extremes, such becomes gingerbread AT-ATs. Drunken bears. Mind control parasites that do things contrary to what nature intended and designed. Of which we may actually have some. Once again, grab your mental repulsor hats and make sure that someone's not beaming stuff into your brains...

Either that or sniff some moondust. Probably has the same effect. For all we know, you might be able to experience it yourself, if people can achieve some new prizes set out by NASA.

While the governor of the state seeks to approve a small increase of funding for schooling, the President wants to cut things. Hey, George, if you're looking to save money, and possibly even reduce the deficit and pay down the debt, I've got something you can look at real easy. Cut your government's salaries, as their performance reviews are coming back pretty negative. You could have saved yourself a lot of grief by not deciding to go chase foolish ideas and invade countries you didn't need to. I suspect if you poked the pork and told everyone in government to tighten their belts, strongly requested that persons and businesses who make more than enough money and are adept at hiding that fact provide a bit more revenue in taxes (and by strong request, I mean you show up with baseball bats and threaten kneecaps) and a few other pretty simple cost-cutting measures, you'd find you have money to fund things that would help you build a stronger economy. I know it must be more complicated than that, but you're the President. You want to seem smart? Run the government under budget, consistently, and pay down (or off) the debt your predecessors ran up.

For my friends who are animation-inclined, a friendly reminder: Watch out for bootlegs. There are people who play by the rules who are hurting pretty bad when people buy a lot from bootleggers.

And in the sequence of opposite ends of the spectrum (or maybe not - they might be on the same end): the possibility of Internet mind appearing, and some reasons why "you" don't exist.

So that's the stuff from me - the unimportant bit is that I scored as Simon and then Wash in taking two Firefly tests - again, I find myself more interested in the secondary characters that don't always get lots of screen time - Kaylee, the Shepherd, Inara... okay, so I might be interested in Kaylee and Inara because they're really cute. But also interested in their stories as well. Perhaps seeing Serenity would help some of that. And if there's a second season, that might help things, too. Anyway, off to the place of my bed. Decisions, decisions, about work and all that.
