Enjoying my newfound freedom.
Apr. 13th, 2006 12:53 amHrm. One thing left to do, really, and it's a question on how knowing game theory can apply to my personal and professional life. any suggestions are welcome, of course. I have an answer put down, but it may not be a good one. I welcome input, as it's the last assignment I have to do, and so I want it out of the way so that I can play games, do job interviews, study for exams, and move into my new place. Yeah, the rest of the month is kind of busy, too. Oh, well. I'm looking forward to work, actually, which is a good sign that all of these years in college won't have gone to waste in a job that I hate. I'm coasting a bit, which means I actually fired up the vid gaming system for a bit today and did a little playing. Wow, scary, ya?
Money matters these days. So much so that women will beat men for their bingo winnings while other people are coutnerfeiting billion-dollar bills. Makes the world go round and then some, I guess.
If you want to annoy your roommates (or spice up some CTF/Paintball games, here are some DIY instructions on making sonic grenades to use.
If you want to know what the BBC considered to be offensive words, well, here's a list. Wonder if there's an FCC equivalent other than George Carlin's Seven Words skit. Surprisingly enough, the f-bomb is not the top of the list. Speaking of television, it would appear that the idea of scent with your movie is coming to theaters in Japan. One wonders what the odour will be when some of those words are uttered on screen.
Bill Nye the Science Guy visited a school, and they liked him, all except for the part where he mentioned that science does not agree with the Genesis account. To which some people stood up and left in a huff. The rest, however, seemed unfazed. I think it would just be cool that you got to see Bill Nye in person.
The government, hard at work, ridding the streets of... ninjas? Yep. Ninjas. And not even real ones. The government obviously favors the pirates. From the same potentially dubious source as the "Cheney's behind 9/11" article, supposedly one of the advisory team for the President argues for his ability to torture anyone, including children. The torture part we know is true, One would hope the children part is not, but the more we see about how the administration operates, the more we think it is. On better reliability ground, something I suppose we have known for a while now: The "mobile weapon biolabs" trailers were never used for making bioweapons. Yet more proof of the false pretenses. Even worse, these documents appeared and were sealed and filed before the official announcements were made about the trailers in the first place. More fibs and lies and reality-bending.
AT&T is being sued because one of its techs came forward with documents that show that their entire backbone of communication is being forwarded onto the NSA, without a warrant, without probable cause, and without any sort of specific binding on what to look for there. Well, now, AT&T wants the documents back, claiming they should not be used as evidence. Wired has the story on AT&T's wish to hide the specifics of how it may have aided the NSA. There's something seriously not kosher about this. Is it just AT&T? Should I be worried that my provider is also indiscriminately forwarding all of the traffic on its network for inefficient machine programs to sort, looking for keywords that indicate I'm some sort of terrorist? (or at the very least, a liberal, which might be just as bad.) Regardless of the details, if it's true that these secret routers exist and are being used, then this is an encroachment on the right to private communications. Of course, it might all be housed under the auspices of USA PATRIOT, another law that requires readjustment at the very least, outright repeal at best.
I post a meme that I took, because, well, I loved the Muppet show
You Are Kermit

Hi, ho! Lovable and friendly, you get along well with everyone you know.
You're a big thinker, and sometimes you over think life's problems.
Don't worry - everyone know's it's not easy being green.
Just remember, time's fun when you're having flies!

I'm Kermit. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
