A blank slate?
Apr. 20th, 2006 02:03 amNah, not really. Just that I have an interview tomorrow for prospective internshipping. Hopefully it all goes well. Then on Friday, examination number one. Hopefully, it won't take me too long to complete. I'm hoping to have it done before Sunday at the latest, and I will likely be taking time off from it, if I don't have it done in a massive fit of creativity on Friday to do things like barbecues and meets. I'm not going to go closet myself over this. Sunday and Monday should probably be spent with at least some eye to creating my cheat sheet for the second exam on Tuesday. After that, then it's trying to figure out what I can pack and box up to move out. We prefer painless transitions. Although there will be an overabundance of desks available for my choosing, apparently. That will definitely be an interesting choice.

bradhicks's articles that I pointed to the other day: Lesbian Air Force reservist discharged after her orientation was discovered. Don't ask, don't tell doesn't work if you're aiming for an equitable society.
shenalia did point out yesterday that the division of Omaha schools into their segments is likely motivated by a desire to give greater control of the schooling system to the localities the school is nearest. It may not be "segregation" in that respect, of the manner of past times. Implications drawn to that effect are my own. I do not trust that the only motivation is to give more local control. That the neighborhoods are set up in such a manner that the separation occurs by what appears to be racial segments is a warning flag to me.The relentlessness of No Child Left Behind and similar "standards" could very easily end up crushing one or more of those schools, if it turns out that the local control can't. Overtly intended or no, there's the potential to do significant harm.
Bedtime now. Have interview to do tomorrow. Hope I don't bomb out.
