The tendency in Square-type games is that optional fights are harder than actual final battles. This holds true for Kingdom Hearts II as well. That said, the optional boss battles in this particular game are rather evil on the hardest difficulty. They, too, have been cleared. I will not, however, finish Jiminy's Journal. Just, no. I give my thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kaijumaster for having started my game on the hardest difficulty, which lets me reap the benefits of all my work without having to meet inane and insane goals.

Ever since the Enron scandal, accounting practices, questionable and otherwise, have been in the minds of the people. Now, for some rather disturbing-type news. By standards enforced on corporations, the government is running a deficit worse than what they're telling the public. Significantly worse.

In one article, you will be able to learn all you wanted to know about the operation behind Girls Gone Wild, and why it looks and sells the way it does. "Baby, Give Me A Kiss" is a female reporter's foray into that part of the adult entertainment industry. The article makes pretty clear to me why I knew I wouldn't like GGW right from seeing it.

In a pendulum-like analogy, claiming that all things are Christian or Non-Christian, and that all things that are Non-Christian are useless is almost guaranteed to make you fail your maths. In a Calvin-like way, almost. Speaking of sciences being delayed by mostly religious viewpoints, separate labs for stem cells means separate pens for the researchers. Seems like a rather large waste of money to me. In other science volcanoes may be singing their problems to scientists.

In terms of wasting money, however, "I Was A Junket Whore" shows where all the fluffy reviews of even horrid movies come from, and how much it costs the studios to get that much fluff. Maybe they should concentrate on making better movies, ya? (Also, after the original column was published, Paramount retaliated and banend him from their screenings. Well, at least no more of their money will be wasted on the article writer then, just on sycophants.

Following that chain of "Telling the truth nets trouble", those who receive sensitive information "leaks" can be prosecuted. Just another way of making sure that none of the abuses get out, and that the government can jail those who speak truth to power. Things are not going well for the American people's need to have a transparent government. Even more so, Homeland Security gives grants to develop data-mining tools for breaking through pseudonyms. So the anonymity of the Internet may not be anything good, either. While we would hope it would cut back on trollishness, it's likely going to be used in catching "Terrists".

For these reasons, and others, including the utter terror of paperback books, the Lifeboat Foundation's Global Existential Threat Advisory System (think big!) was raised to "elevated" today. And, in a very calculated and potentially inflammatory maneuver, I provide the following: Won't anyone think of the children? Yep, if you're that worried about your child (and look at how young these kids are that are being modeled), you too can print a shirt on them proclaiming the lack of X in your child. How long before we start seeing older shirts that say "Sex-free child" or "Internet-free child" or "Science-free child"? (I can see this meme running a long way, both for those who think it's dandy and those who want to mock it mercilessly.)

Anyway, bed. All-day shift tomorrow, and I'm going to need my powahs to make it all work.
