Yeah. These weekend-enabled shifts are killers.

Some state constitutions still have provisions that disqualify atheists and non-Christians from public office. Even if only symbolic, here's a good reason to remove them.

Whatever you think of it, the UK is considering profiling by behavior, as the U.S. already does. Whether you agree that it's racial profiling, and whether such is necessary to keep terrists off the planes and other transports, or are utterly unconvinced that the revealed plots are anything more than propaganda, is up to you.

Eeeediot. Data mining will trip you up a lot of the time...

A fictional story about our potential future at the airport.

Decorated needles are reducing the anxieties around them. You know, in the same way that a good bedside manner does. People like to see color and fun in their hospital rooms.

Iraq may be getting a lot more complicated, with Turkey and Iran starting to shell inside the country. Is this the excuse Bushco needs to invade?

Kidney donor requests recall when recipient ditches Christianity. That's pretty poor manners and actions, there. Giving the kidney was supposed to be a selfless act. Now you've ruined your own good name, donor. Congratulations. Then again, with faith and belief carrying as much weight as ability when it comes to federal funding, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised when acts of charity come with religious strings attached.

Not that I ever need an excuse to rip on the school in Columbus, but by now, I'm almost feeling a little sorry for them, as they really picked a winner in Maurice Clarett, who has been reported as having ties to organized crime. The saga keeps going downhill. Will we hit bottom, or are there more shady dealings to uncover?

This thread made my skin crawl while reading it. The subject matter being discussed is the obvious Satanic piece by C.S. Lewis, The Chronicles of Narnia. This is the thread in question, Bible quotes, punny title, and insistence that Narnia is not Godly included. I find it disturbing that a moderator willingly takes a side and chastises another poster for disagreeing with them. I find it more disturbing that most of the posters who say "Narnia is Satan!" are utterly convinced of their rightness and accuracy of biblical interpretation. The sheer arrogance from one camp to the few who say they are Christians but find no fault is scary. This thread encapsulates a lot of what people think Christianity is, and what fringe elements of Christianity sound like. These are the people who will demand that everything not conforming to their standards be swept away and replaced with more appropriate material. These are the kinds of people that will happily put a theocrat in the White House so they can make their prejudices into law. (Maybe I'm overgeneralizing a bit, but I don't think I'm missing by much if I am.) I'm scared of these kinds of people and the potential damage they can do if put in a position of authority. I hope that America learned its lesson from this and doesn't repeat the mistake.
