Got to get up tomorrow nice and early, and just got back in from water polo official training. So this should be quick.

First, happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] welah!

Then, the rest: If you want to make your Apple superiority just that much more known, you will soon be able to invest in an iPhone, Apples hybrid iPod-mobile phone-mobile broadband offering.

Apparently, adding milk makes black tea less healthy. It still makes the tea taste better, depending on how bitter it started, but apparently the milk negates some of the health benefits of the tea.

Liberal Eagle requests that the newly elected majority party be as partisan as it possibly can be. Because that way, things getting done could be considered the high priority, rather than “getting along” in some endeavour that will screw everybody. Especially since at least one New Yorker thinks Steven Colbert is a Republican reporter. So some clear delineations could really help.

Speaking of the media, All Spin Zone is not pleased that the Washington Post decided not to run graphic images of civilians killed at Haditha. All Spin Zone says that running images, “too graphic” or not , of what’ actually going on in Iraq could make for some major public and political opinion about what to do with Iraq. By choosing not to run the pictures obtained, All Spin Zone argues emphatically that the Washington Post permits atrocities to continue, and equates the paper with Holocaust deniers (Godwin’s Law may apply here). I’m kind of surprised. With as much as newspapers claim falling circulation and dwindling dollars, the chance to plaster something that will draw eyes would normally be something to jump at. The Post decided not to.

Perhaps it’s a show of solidarity with the war. Or maybe the post editors subscribe to the theory that war is not about how much pain you inflict, but how much you can stand, and decided not to add additional damage to the American populace and increase their clamor for war to stop. As word continues to leak about the rush job of execution that was Saddam Hussein, and how after convicting and hanging on a lesser charge, all the other charges were dropped, it sounds a lot like there’s damage being piled up anyway. Why not pile on?

There’s some great real estate available for purchase - Vlad the Impaler's castle for 40 million pounds. In the higher price range, the independent country of Sealand is for sale.

An aquarium to wrap about a toilet tank. I’m not sure they’ll take the place of the bathroom reader, but they’ll at least give you something pretty to stare at.

Al Gore wants more than just for people to see the movie. Recently, Al Gore trained at least 1,000 volunteers on how to give global warming presentations. Some of the material is the same from the movie, others different, but Al Gore wants the message to get out, and the supporters to be legion.

This is a pretty good example of why some fandoms show their spiny sides to most people after closing the doors and viewing everyone outside the fandom as evil persecutors. In making a commentary about how unsafe it would be to engage in eating nuts for a soulbond if one had an allergy, the response that appears is all about people running to say, "zomg! Soulbonding? Mental help, lol.". These are the Intertubes, I realize, and such substandard behavior could be expected, but seeing it all together in one place is disturbing, to say the least. As I said, people shouldn’t really wonder why groups get defensive when new people find them.

Lastly, though, taking advantage of a couple sillythings. Under the cut we have the Azumanga LJ friends (which took forever to get right) and the Endless (Sandman) LJ Friends, which was right on the first time. So.

AzuLJ and SandmanLJ )

So after all that, I’m turning in to bed. I think the sleep will do me good. If nothing else, the cold has fallen down to a totally manageable level. Now I just wish it would go away.
