This morning was fun, as we got some training on how to work the new colour copier that just arrived at the branch this morning. For me, it was pretty intuitive, having worked copiers like it before at university, but I got the feeling that my co-workers weren't used to quite so many buttons and touch-screen options. I think they'll do fine, though, and pick up on it pretty easily. I think one of my potential oddities, of becoming a sort of unpaid tech as well as a librarian is coming true. I've fixed a few things by myself already and navigated a couple others the first time I looked at them. Like I suspect, I might be the minor tech. Ah, well. Life and work continue apace.

One more thing to note - the holiday books for All Hallow's Eve were put out today. More than 45 days in advance of the actual event itself. *sigh* Even libraries start their seasons early, I guess. As I'm told, though, this is so that two circulation periods can occur before the holiday itself, which is fairly sane. I'm waiting for orange to suddenly appear on all of the stores near me, if they haven't already.

Onward to other matters of more interest. Like the chances of things killing you. Paying attention to the things that are 1 in 5 is better than the 1 in 140,000. Or you can look at di-positronium, a molecule that has a very short lifespan but emits sufficient gammy rays to be thought to be useful in a destructive laser. (Laser? What's the right term for a gamma-ray burst like that?)

Mcdonald''s employee arrested after officer eats oversalted burger. The officer says the meat made him ill. It sounds like he ate the burger completely, though, rather than complaining after a bite or two. So this is definitely bizzare-world stuff.

Something much cooler is classic video game screenshots recreated in Lego. Building blocks are amazing, indeed.

So, only a few days before I can do more complete posting.Which might be good, and might be tiring. Either way, back to the grind.
