Frivolous Bit Part Two: New Words
May. 13th, 2010 11:28 amA new set of words given, a new set of explanations requestsed. For those not in the game, if you want to join, just ask. (Still no guarantees that there won't be a nonsense word or phrase in there somewhere.)
- Words: I've put out a lot of them, usually in written/typed form, over the years. It could be easily likened to shouting at the darkness and hoping someone is there to listen, and that maybe someone will shout out a reply here and there. I've always had words throughout my life, in speech and writing and attempting to persuade. BEfore I'm done, I'm sure I will have written and spoke somewhere in the billions of words. If I'm lucky, maybe a handful will be remembered past my death, and possibly a line or two past a generation from there.
- Time: I don't have enough. No person does. I can only hope that I used mine in an effective way, and that I will be able to have more than enough time to feel like I lived a complete life. Knowing me, some of my last words will be, "But I'm not done yet..."
- Logic: A deficiency of mine, in terms of formal schooling and the logic of arguments and in the logic of the machines that we use every day. My pursuits run toward attempting to manipulate emotion, and so I would best be served as a pitchperson rather than a logician. Occasionally I have flashes of being able to follow cause to effect through the steps, but it's certainly not any sort of guarantee.
- Library: My professional space, where I get to play at being a minor God of Knowledge. Still the best deal anyone gets on their taxes around. Informative, entertaining, and carrying more formats than just the standard book, branching out into social media and electronic resources, and soon, hopefully manging to integrate into the world of mobile technology. All while fending off the attacks of modern day censors, literary terrorists, and governmental entities that want to intrude on your private reading and viewing decisions. Support your libraries.
- Turnip: A vegetable. Haven't had many in my lifetime, perhaps because they're not part of the staple American diet. Also generally used as a weapon by Princess Peach in Nintendo's Smash Brothers series, thanks to the re-spriting of one game to create the American Super Mario Brothers 2. It's kind of interesting to go through the number confusions of various game franchises that have some, but not all, of their games exported to other countries.
