Right, then.
Mar. 7th, 2005 09:52 pmSo there was today. And today was fun. But today was not important, really. I did go talk with my socialist again, and coming out of it, I'm more convinced than ever that
przxqgl is right - first we need to convince the people that the revolution they seek is possible, right this moment. Then we can quibble over the details of how it gets done. I was talking about the potential pitfalls of having a rigid ideology, and there could have been a fair bit of hand-waving going on there, but the fact that socialism must generate socialism to generate socialism wasn't denied, and there was also the admission that people would have to squish people who acted against the revolution. So there is the pitfall that a not-vigilant populace could easily have the rug pulled out from under it by bureaucrats.
Plus, I'm becoming a bit more convinced that if the socialist revolution happens, it's only because capitalism will have failed sufficiently that a nationwide large Angry Mob does something about it. That'll take some doing for most people. You know, the bit about The Matrix has you and all that. Most people who have seen me before understand. Those that don't, are kindly referred to the following two images: Romans and Romans again.
Speaking of steel, have a gander at the chain-link prophylactic. Just the thing for our knights who can't be bothered to get out of their armor.
Two Public Service Announcements: First, thou shalt not screw with Europe. Nose-tweaking may happen occasionally, but none of this stuff. (Another Brick in the Wall leading toward the socialist revolution?)
Second, and somewhat in spite of that, don't worry (too much), be crazy! It's much better for your health.
Ah, and congratulations are due, of a sort, I suspect, to
Ng for managing to have a question answered on Capre Diem. (At least, I suspect it's the same Ng that I know - it's a rather unique name to have - any confirmations?) While the response may not have been optimal, at least things were good enough to get it answered "on-air".
And work in the morning, where I attempt to juggle both the job and thinking about he two-page paper that's due Friday.
Ah, yes, one last bit - there's that picture thing making the rounds. So if ther's anything funky or not understanding about my icon set, then do post a comment explaining your befuddlement and I will do my best to enlighten you. I do not guarantee success, however.
