silveradept: A plush doll version of C'thulhu, the Sleeper, in H.P. Lovecraft stories. (C'thulhu)

Early update tonight because I want to go have some fun at the house tomorrow. Maybe I'll finally get around to finished the third .hack volume. More data and speculation available on the .hack//G.U. game and the apparently associated franchise. New storyline - three somewhat independent games, of which the first is supposedly quite long. We'll see what happens. When more solid data appears, we'll start talking things up.

Our own state done themselves proud - some of the professors at a Christian university wrote an open letter and states that Bush wasn't being Christian. Excellent work. Just don't be caught off guard should the fury of the machine turn on you guys. Then again, a large part of the group that would be doing that might be out trying to convert the Iraqis (at which they will fail miserably), so you could be safe. Of course, that's assuming that other things don't decide to happen. Like a judge telling parents that they can't teach their kid Wicca - this when both parents are Wiccans and proud of it. Should be a snap decision to overturn, but I wouldn't be surprised if the case reaches the higher echelons of the court system before getting smacked. [livejournal.com profile] greyweirdo spun it most interestingly: "The Right is correct - the judiciary DOES need to be reined in." This is what happens when Presidents put their puppets in power. Now do you understand the value of a filibuster?

Two marks of philosophy-religion-thoughts. The first might also help to demystify that synchronicity article from yesterday and try to help explain the mechanics behind a nonlocal universe - The Limitless Mind (excerpts from.) The second has to do with something potentially much more up (the common perception of) Freud's alley than anything else. It postulates that Christian sects (although I suspect that the argument would be extendable to most, if not all, patriarchic religions) utilize the sex drive in its myriad forms to instill fear, obedience, and religious experience, as well as the conceptions of God and sin, into the people that follow them. If you stop by, make sure you read the pamphlet examples. They made me twitch with a killing sort of urge. Then again, as someone who was a Catholic, I was probably already in league with Satan as it was.

On a different subject, it would appear the Dr. Who has managed to obtain a 12 rating for a Dalek torture scene. (For those of us Stateside, it's the equivalent of a PG-13, I think. Maybe just a PG. Still...) Amazing how the world's changed. Probably less than fifty years ago, a scene like that would have been fodder for primetime.

Lastly, if your head's spinning on all of this stuff, then I suggest you grab some cow dung, some clay, a match and build yourself a filter (PDF). You'll burn away all the B.S. and only be left with pure, sweet-tasting information. That's my report for tonight, kids. Have a good weekend. For those celebrating Memorial Day Stateside, remember the fallen of your choice, dying for whichever definition of "democracy" you endorse. See you all on Monday.
