Okay, so I was going to do research, honest. And then I got sucked into a game. And then decided I'd take the day off. Tomorrow is the rivalry football game and curling, so no work there. Maybe Sunday I'll finish off the thing. It's not due until next week anyway. And there are those papers, but they're not due for at least two weeks or more. I can take a day off (and there are a lot of people cheering me on to do just that.)

Thus, relaxed, I can shout ALL HAIL LORD IRON BALLS! (Sorry, Tcher, but this qualifies.) And you notice what happens when he says what everyone's thinking? Everyone starts running away from him. Are they afraid of getting caught in the fire that will follow? Or are they repulsed by strong convictions? Or something else entirely? Who knows? Still, this person deserves respect and honor for speaking his mind in a politically hostile environment.

In fact, now we know how they reacted to it - putting up a sham vote to ridicule him. Even if it was nonbinding, there was plenty of cause for lost tempers and heated exchanges. The seat of the Congress became a schoolyard taunting ground. Disgusting.

Cool tech of this year. Some very interesting ideas out there - some with great, great, potential. Hopefully we'll be seeing some of these in our lives soon. They might help combat other ideas like fried Oreos (actually, not so bad - it's the fried Twinkies I raise eyebrows at.)

I'm sorry to say, but an actual pullout from Iraq would be the wrong thing to do. Not cowardly, like many people are saying, but the wrong thing to do.

Troop reductions and transition to Iraqi police, especially without announcing it to the world? That, I can live with.

Simply pulling out, saying "We've done all we can, no more"? Nuh-uh. I understand the military situation there from intelligence briefs we get well enough to know that that would be the wrong thing to do.

A pullout would not be the best thing right now, I'll agree. We're in too far to just pull out - and we had an example before us of what happens when you do that.

Still, it takes serious nuts to suggest that possibility that we might actually need to stop sending troops over and start bringing them out. It's not something the overlords like to hear, especially from someone in the Outer Circle.

I'm not even sure he really wants to pull out immediatly. I think he's trying to give them a message that they can't keep doing things the way they have been. I think what he's really trying to say is that we need to do it right, or get out of the way, but this made a bigger splash of the issue.
