More goodies for all.
Jan. 23rd, 2006 10:15 pmSo I did my thing today and got ahead and got another page on something and basically finished the assignment due Friday. A little concentrated work threw off the panic that I was trying to work myself into. I'm good now, really. I will fight off the panic and stay calm. Tomorrow I will manage to stay awake in my classes, even if I have to take a nap to do it.
Pie glasses. Pi pie. Tang Pie. (Blech. I'm not sure I could take that.)
If that wasn't odd enough for you, then maybe you need a dose of Twenty Three.
Beyond that, a very much more real thing - the government trying to justify its illegality before the investigation confirms it. At least, in theory, that's what's going to happen. Just remember, these are the people that think groups of retired Quakers are considered credible terrorist threats. Mmm-hmm... that's real smart.
I think LJ's cookies have been set to expire periodically now - might be another aspect of the hullabaloo described in the news posts. Thus, I can get up in the morning and find myself logged out. If it's a security measure, that's fine - I just don't remember it being mentioned as one of the things that was going on.
Something a little more interesting is the Canadian election - watching the numbers flow in - preliminary measures indicate that the Conservative party will have a minority government. Most of the Canadians have been predicting a Conservative minority, which won't put someone who has been tagged as a bit backward on some issues (and perhaps the more damning aspect, Bush-friendly) into a majority government. I'm really wishing that we had more representative government... the first-past-the-post system has its aggravations, as might the more parliamentarian systems... but the parliamentarian systems consistently seem to be able to provide voices to smaller parties and involve them in making deals to get government legislation passed. I have no idea whether or not it's any more effective and any less prone to having corrupt and sneaky legislation passed, but it seems better. Grass is greener on the other side and all that, I know.
Anyway, there it is. That's what's out of my head tonight. Not that it's really worth anything, but there it is, anyway.
