You know, I was going to write some fantastical adventure about how I got caught in another dimension today, and then I realized that reality is bad enough by itself to make most people think it's a fantasy. Truth be told, I never did like it when Mr. Marconi invented his wireless, because now the whole world is involved in some way. There was a lunatic outside my door today claiming to be selling papers from the future... he wouldn't move from my door until I bought one. I skimmed the headline to see something preposterous - American schoolboys have no patience at all and that somehow, education, with it's necessary silences and stills, are somehow anathema to the boy's nature. Everyone knows that the switch should be applied well and liberally, and the boys will turn out fine. The rest was filled with nonsense about monkeys in charge of the United States and other rubbish.

My coals have been unusually warm lately - I can only wonder what sort of fortune someone is spending to overheat our house. I will be glad to have other lodgings next year, as the rent has become somewhat untenable. My course for today was inspiid, unfortunately. However, it being the week-end, I will avail myself of a carriage and head onward to my good friend greyweirdo, who claims to hvae brought back a most interesting dish from his travels - chili. A rather misnamed dish, I fear, for he tells me that it is best served both hot and spicy. I will likely also be entertained by his most charming friends and discuss the things of politics and our various hobbies.

For the moment, however, I must close my journal book and go to my bed. A full day of discussion with writer friends of mine will await me in the morning.
