That was most interesting...
Aug. 13th, 2004 11:29 pm...and thus, the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad are underway. Perhaps it is a bit presumptuous of me to say so, but I would like to remind our world leaders of the Olympic Truce, the spirit of the Games, and the hope that the nations of the world will be able to look at each other one day as friends and allies instead of targets and enemies. I would request that those planning homicidal attacks of any nature postpone them for the duration of the Games and use the time to think about peace and accomplishment of their goals through non-violence.
For the time being, let us respect those who compete in sport and transcend the boundaries that many consider absolute limits.
(And the opening ceremonies were great, too. Good art, good music, and definitely worth watching.)
