A dox, of sorts.
Jul. 17th, 2005 10:08 pmSo I left mid-week yesterday, was at the Michigan's Adventure park on Thursday, back around the house through the weekend. Power went out both up here and back at home base, and luckily, the modem didn't take a blasting at home. Merely a cord, or perhaps a circuit breaker on the power supply. Phew. Got back, tried to catch up on 'net life. Have failed, so far, but it's dented enough that I don't have to particularly care. Over the weekend, while science couldn't get a shuttle off the ground, it did discover a trinary star system with a planet. Gravity must just be right for such a thing to come into being. Science will probably have to scratch its head and re-invent itself to figure out just what the fark's going on. It needed this for a while, anyway.
The Onion's precognitive record improves yet again. Exhibit A: Onion News story about father worried that his toddler son may be gay. Exhibit B: 365Gay.com article about father killing his toddler son because he thought he was gay. That's sick and wrong. The satire papers should never be put in the position of their articles coming true.
In light of the recent explosive situation on London, everyone, jihadist or imperialist, tree-hugger or factory-builder, should read and understand: 'Our dead have names, too'. This is the other side of the coin - it's not just Americans and Westerners that are being hurt by senseless violence.
Have not read newest HP book - did not finish bk. five in entirety. Should probably re-read from beginning of bk. five. From non-spoiler material gathered, bk. 6 is getting back into fine writing. Others will have to corroborate.
Final markings? Five reasons why I'm a dork (and probably rather proud of it...)
1) Interests: anime, fantasy novels, computer and video games, a passing interest in hardware (nothing doing in programming, though), Star Trek, Star Wars, Farscape, science fictions, et cetera, et cetera. Textbook dorkiness.
2) Books are my friends. Although I don't read as much, perhaps, as I would if I didn't have schoolwork eating my time (kills some of the joy of reading for pleasure, as well), I was a fiend in my younger days. If you want uber-dorkness, consider that my program concentration will be Library Science.
3) Marching band. (Enough said.) - extending from that is a love of movie scores, soundtracks, and instrumental musics. I do have some vocal stuff, but my CD collection has... very little "popular" music.
4) While I have an interest in sports, I was never a superstar at any of them - occasionally competent, but not necessarily "good"
5) My appearance suggests it, certainly. If I'm wearing my sunglasses, it probably hints strongly.
And now, to tag others for their reasons of geekiness (or dorkhood)... hmmm,
welah,
fred_smith,
rimspace (who, incidentally, still owes me an answer),
loweko, aaaaaaand...
sharkcowsheep, for variety.
