Doing what we do best.
Jan. 17th, 2006 12:43 amBeing offensive to almost everyone on the Internet in one way or another?
No. That's what we do well, not what we do best. What we do best is grab an amalgamation of links from the depths of the Internet, throw them in a blender, hit puree and try to come up with witty captions.
Oh. I still like my idea better.
We're getting to that point. Did everyone celebrate Kermit Hands Day today? Although you certainly won't want to throw your hands up and "yay!" for the knowledge that Norton Systemworks and Kaspersky A/Vwere also using rootkit-like tactics with their programs. My computer, goddamitall - I don't want anything being hidden.
Being on an alternative OS is also getting more scrutiny from the government's crime squads, as they learn neat tricks like Linux that runs on XBoxes and iPods can be used to do cracking and black-hat work, as can MacOS. Not every malicious person uses Windoze. Usually, they're attacking it. Also, there's more evil code out for those OSes, apparently - maybe at some point, we'll have to have our Linux distros patched and A/V scanners running full-bore.
If you've wanted to get your hands on some truly unorthodox books, Loompanics Unlimited is going out of business (after 30 years or so, so it's not like they were a startup), and is clearing out their stock at half-price. Browse the title list - there's all sorts of stuff there, some part of which may not be government-approved. Another one of those "if I had money" sort of things, I might get a couple books.
To try and frag your brains as best I can, we present dancing animals in love. It's good stuff, actually - a thoroughly enjoyable romp and probably will cause some people to go WTF? in one way or another.
And that's everything tonight - must remember to drop off award letter tomorrow, and not get bowled over by the amount of work I think I have, and merely allow myself to waft in the wind of the work that I actually do have. This next week might be a little rough because the first round of minipapers is coming due (snuck up on me a bit, I say, still being a week out from due dates). I think, though, that once I get a little clarification, I'm home free on one of the projects, and then I can still try to fight my way through the other one and possibly get some clarification in the nick of time for the other one.
Right - reminder to self - write about possible niche in life as someone who does well inspiring others, often unintentionally, while falling flat on face slightly more than occasionally on trying to inspire self. It'll be a fun thing to do tomorrow, unless the linktasticness is just doubleplusgood. Anyway, I've spent far too much time writing this when I have an early class in the morning.
