The problem with working the hours that I do - rarely is there any time to actually relax. Potentially, I could work from 9-9 every day (although I usually get a break in the middle if that happens where I'm not actually working.) But I haven't really had much of a summer vacation since June started (not that I expected one). And after next year, there won't be any more summer vacations. It's work from day one to the end or the children. I could be a stay-at-home dad without too much trouble. Admittedly, I'd have to get a lot more domestic than I am right now, actually practice cooking and diaper cleaning and such, but I think I could do it.

Or at least, it would be the kids who set off the toxic cloud while trying to steal meth components, not me.

New York's Supreme Court washes it's hands of a decision on gay marriage, preferring to let the Legislature decide on the issue. (More from the NYT - BugmeNot it if you need to). Also, Georgia's court upholds its gay-marriage ban. The NY Supreme Court had confidence that the Legislature could discuss and act on the issue in a rational manner, and the writer of the opinion said "Plaintiffs have not persuaded us that this long-accepted restriction [marriage for heterosexuals only] is a wholly irrational one, based solely on ignorance and prejudice against homosexuals." If that was the standard, then this case was doomed before it started. Perhaps this decision is a catalyst for the elections in November, and people who aren't afraid or against giving homosexuals the chance to prove themselves will take the legislature and governor's office.

I also got the pleasure of viewing a picture of the abomination that rapes Lady Liberty and all she stands for. Accompanied by a long set of commentary, along with a sprinkling of links. This is the statue that the vocal, Fred Phelps-following religious types want to raise over the Capitol building. The first thing I thought, when I saw this, was: "Someone from the KKK will be along shortly to set the cross on fire and complete the imagery." I don' like that kind of statue appearing. Can't stop it from appearing, though. Can only produce a case of skeptic's cola and see how they'll react to being in proximity to each other. (There's a lot of articles in Skeptic's cola. Worth reading quite a few of them.)
