Surprisingly, on a day of little work. Cleared off all the detritus in my mind and on my desk, I suppose, and took care of all the things that needed it. Told a story this morning, and it was radically different than the storytime I had the last time - the kids were attentive, sat, and listened. I hoped they enjoyed it, and the more experienced storyteller there said I did fine. So good for me.

I also finally polished off the last Phantom Brave EX-map, defeating the vicious mechanoid robot Pringer X, d00d. This leaves me clear to do work on other RPGs that I may have put on hold to finish Phantom Brave. Wheeeeeeeeee!

And I saw that pirate movie sequel. A very, very silly movie, that one. I also notice, and I think this is a general trend: Sequels tend to show their title right at the beginning, where first movies tend to have an introductory sequence of some sort before the big swell and the title screen. Any ideas as to why?

And also, I feel like I'm not always getting end credit mixes on movie soundtracs - on the ones where it's just tunes in the movie and pop tunes made for the movie, yeah, okay, but on the ones where there's an actual scoring and end-credit mix, I wonder whether those make it to the soundtrack CD. Anyone care to do some research on that?

The big buzz is that Google's opening up a shop in Ann Arbor - not surprising, considering one of its founders graduated from the University of Michigan. I forsee many more internship opportunities for the SI students at Google.

Hrm. Apparently, the phrase "high on life" is not such a metaphor, after all, as scientists at Johns Hopkins have apparently proven that a magic mushroom trip produces the same reaction as a spiritual experience. So religion really is trippy, after all. Who knew?

Pink Floyd frontman Syd Barrett dies at 60. Wonder how many people will put another brick in the wall now that he's gone.

A book-collection tagging site - LibraryThing. Depending on the size of your bookshelves, you may not even need to pay any of the fee. It looks interesting - I'm not sure that it can hold my entire library, though, since I'd probably file all the graphic novels individually.

Top-Rank World Cup Official attempts suicide. Reasons as yet unclear. Perhaps the stress of dealing with so many players and organization members?

Paranoia - it never really seems to go away these days, does it? So here's a couple articles about how it stays around and shifts forms in various ways. Perhaps one of my own paranoias is about the anti-intellectual bias in the United States. Although that one could be proven true without needing to look too hard, I suspect. Either way, should stock up on my designer tinfoil hats.

Last meme for the night - I've got a few userpics - tell me two that you like and two that need some explaining. (If you don't want to do it with userpics, do it with interests, instead.)

Right, it's well past bedtime now. G'night. Tomorrow, I'll probably be geeking out over the concert, so there may not be much for coherence.
