Week's middle.
Aug. 3rd, 2006 12:24 amHappy birthday to the wielder of Cyril and the Inherently Superior Commodore. Hopefully you enjoyed the privileges you got for it being your date of life.
Today was a rather fun day. Once again, being in A/C is nice. Although much of today was spent outside being staff at an outdoor storytime. It wasn't too hot, though, and we got in before it got really hot. Somewhere soon the heat wave is supposed to break. It'd be nice if that were sooner rather than later, though.
Rat neuron clumps teaching people more about their brains. We don't have rat AI yet, or even necessarily something that would pass for rat intelligence, but progress continues.
"Internet is Tubes" Senator trying to get a bill passed while nobody's looking. Some of those sections, especially the "protection" ones, look downright insidious.
Beep Baseball - a way of playing the game that levels the playing field for everyone. And might teach us all a thing or two about how much we rely on sight to get around in the world.
The world is currently struggling with people preaching a radical religious message - Christian or Muslim, the problems are the same. The question is whether or not saner heads are able to prevail before irreversible options are used.
Another sterling example of the Zero Tolerance philosophy. Mixed with a strong unwillingness to actually find anything out, and you get kids being arrested and held in a cell because they were breaking a few loose branches to build a treehouse. Over-reaction upon over-reaction. Ludicrous.
Anyway, off to bed, where sleeping without a blanket is probably a good idea.
