Selections from [personal profile] onyxlynx, activation phrase "Unicorns" -

Default icon - kodoma with trombone

The default icon, a white kodoma from Mononoke Hime carrying a tenor slide trombone on a black background. The kodoma is suffused with a white aura, and the slide trombone is emenating a wisp of musical notes from the bell. The note wisp rises to the top of the picture after it leaves the bell.

This icon originally existed, in a much simpler form, as a design for a group shirt from my undergraduate university. (Yes, that makes me old in many circles. Deal.) The original form of the avatar was used on the College Roomies From Hell!!! (which has rebooted itself this year, after a thirteen-year run of continuity that would make most major comics publishers feel ashamed) message boards. It was then entered in a "Halloweenify my avatar" thread and transformed into the current form, the ghostly kodoma with the self-playing trombone. It represented a lot of things about me then, and it still does now. I like it as a default identity.

SilverAdept in a pond leaf form

Green letters arranged in the shape of a lily leaf on a marbled blue background. The letters are the username, Silver Adept, and are all sorts of different orientations.

Another icon I received as a gift from someone...either on the CRFH!!! boards or the Pocket Otaku boards, from a very talented icon maker that was transforming user names into icons. Maybe I even have them as an LJ friend? In any case, it's a more contemplative icon, perhaps a metaphor for the quest for Zen, or Taoist immortality. Sometimes both.

Blue droplets in what appears to be a rain storm

What appears to be a rainstorm composed of blue droplets, lighter near the top and darker near the bottom, in a seemingly random pattern.

This was given to me by C, and it's not actually rain. I forget what it is, though. It's not my "depressed" icon, perhaps one for when the rains come down in my head and it's a bit hard to see through all the droplets. It's also sort of a half-indicator of what the weather is like in my current United States territory. The name might be an unconscious nod to Raine, who very much likes the color blue, as Ozymandias's father makes up two icons in my curent set.

The M-Division Logo, in Color

A Star of David on a black background, downward-pointing triangle on top of upward. The upward triangle has three colors - red at the top small triangle, a very whitish blue in the lower left triangle, and purple in the lower right triangle. The downward-facing triangle is a yellow lightning bolt on a black background. Surrounding the Star of David is a circle of white glowing script, written in the language of the Elves of J.R.R. Tolkein's The Lord of the Rings. The translation of the language is "The Dangers of Knowledge are not fought by Ignorance." (At least, I think that's the case.)

More from CRFH!!!, where my "character" in the saga of the "protectors and guardians of the comic's main characters against their main adversary, all at the direction of the comic's creator, incarnated as a mysterious goddess" is the head of a division that tries to splice together the greatest benefits of technology and of magic, often with explosive and unpredictable results. This is their symbol, which I constructed some of and then some people with greater icon-making power than I transformed into the awesome that is there now. It's usually used as an icon whenever I'm thinking about magic, spirituality, or other sorts of things that involve elements, lightning bolts, or Elvish.

Pigeon's Head

The head of Pigeon, a Mo Willems character, on a tan circle on a blue background. Pigeon is in blue, excepting for one large black and white eye that takes up most of the head circle, a neck stripe in white and he yellow beak. Pigeon is drawn in a crayon-like line style and has a cartoonish set of proportions.

Pigeon! I'm exposed to a lot of children's books in my work, and Mo Willems has great characters that come from simple drawings. I have three Pigeon icons, and I always read the new Pigeon when it arrives - it's a great set of books for kids who want to be able to say "NO!" Really, Pigeon is best explained by picking up one of the books from your library and reading it.
