The Article II Address for 02022
Mar. 2nd, 2022 10:29 pmThe United States Constitution requires in Article II, Section 3, that "He [the President] shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient." By custom, this has become a once-yearly address to a joint session of the Congress, usually with additional dignitaries such as the justices of the Supreme Court, the secretaries of the Cabinet (minus one, the "designated survivor" who is not at the Capitol Building in case there is violence and all of the people who would otherwise be in the line of succession to the presidency are killed), the supreme commanders of the military branches, and any other persons that the President of others invite to the audience.
