Midweek madness.

silveradeptToday was a bit hectic at work - outside storytime with more than one-hundred children, and even though I'm not telling any stories, I was up front, and so I participated in the silliness and the zaniness, which involved me patting my head, rubbing my belly, shrugging my shoulders and hopping up and down on one foot. Surprisingly, I accomplished this feat. Then at other internship, I was the song assistant in storytime with no real warning. Oh, well. Pulled it off. Looking silly is going to be a staple of this summer, I think.
An interesting job, unique in the world, perhaps: Meet the geek who makes high-tech appliances follow the Sabbath. That's definitely something I wouldn't normally have thought of - but then again, if I were a practicing Jew, then perhaps I would have considered it already.
If your salary or corporation permits it, check out some tips on buying your own private jet. Lots more cost there than you might think, and while it might be cool to tool around in your private jet, you should be very sure it won't break the bank.
The following article talks about the space between the notes, the sounds that aren't musical at first, and how experimental music tries to tune into the Void - but not Void as an evil object. Void, in this case, is all the stuff that's out of step with the harmonies we create in Western music, the sounds that happen while music is made, the sounds that make music. That sort of thing. Could just be pretentious nonsense, after all.
Oaklahoma passes law banning the sale of "violent" video games to minors. The First Amendment lawyers, if they haven't broken down the door yet, should be serving papers on this matter soon enough. Looks like it's a political ploy by a Rep. who's up for re-election, and it tries to classify violent video games as "harmful to minors". There hasn't been a bill like this that has stood up to a court challenge - there should be enough precedent there that further attempts will be useless, and I hope that nobody else decides short-term political gain is worth sacrificing the time and money of the government to pass an unconstitutional bill.
What the frag is going on here that video games are receiving such a stigma? Is this the "rock and roll" of our generation or something? I guess I should note that it probably really began with Doom and Quake and that we're still trying to convince people that games aren't strictly for kids. Much like the anime/manga groups had to - I guess we're out on the arm that says "All video games are violent!" (like "All that anime stuff is just porn") and that we'll hopefully make it back to the correct balance point soon. I'm getting really tired of seeing these things happen.
