Today's great deeds...
Jun. 26th, 2006 10:57 pmAnother fun-filled and productive day. Goals were achieved, and I told a story to the babies. Although, I did scare one of them, possibly by being too loud for a bit. But I didn't scare any of them off. Good marks from the boss on the storytelling, so that's a good sign. We'll see how they like me at Ann Arbor when I step up to the plate, whenever that is.
The "adult" mentality may be a losing proposition in this ever-changing world. Since change and flexibility are what seem to be prized these days, the ability to adapt and be flexible, childlike in a sense, keeps us from getting too set in our ways. Of course, it also has some other consequences, but you take what you can get, really.
Today was otherwise uneventful for me -
annaonthemoon will probably have more to post about today than I will.
Anyway, work and such tomorrow. See you.

Date: 2006-06-27 03:14 am (UTC)The person mentions many things that are supposedly associated with childish impulse, but many of them have been around among adults for centuries. Novelty seeking is hardly the new thing people have been claiming it is. Movies, photographs, radio, and TV were all novel fads when they first came out. Hell, even in the 17th century it was said the greatest crime a person among the gentry could commit was to be boring.
This also fails to recognize economic, social, and locational differences. As I say, the upper clases have been like this for centuries, the middle classes have been at it for at least a 150 years in America, and even among the lower classes it has been noticed.
Part of the problem is the person writting this has a very narrow and unrealistic idea of what Adult is and means.
