Whee, birthday.
Jul. 5th, 2006 01:21 amAll done, that birthday thing, and it was fun, certainly. Lots of good food and good company (thank again to
greyweirdo,
droewyn, and
hollygrahm for having me over for a bit to chat and eat.) Thanks to
thewayne for sending over a copy of his excellent game Zombie Cafe. It might make a run at the gaming convention this November. I managed to snag a six-pack of bagels this morning gratis, and they're good bagels... although there were only four after I had breakfast this morning, hehe. Many thanks, also, for all the wonderful birthday wishes. Although the trombone list got the other bone who had a birthday today, there was nobody there wishing me one. Maybe I am that forgettable to them... or just not popular enough, or something. Oh, well, no big loss. All the people who wanted to remember did.
Pentacle refused for soldier's grave, because Wicca is not a recognized religion by the United States military. I wonder if they refuse Islam, too, because there seem to be an awful lot of Christians in strange places that don't think to highly of Muslims, either... and remember, this country was not founded as a Christian nation, regardless of what Pat Robertson or Fred Phelps believes.
droewyn, you said you had Sanctuary? All I've got is Passion, so having that would be a nice addition to the collection. Speaking of video game music, I'm still going down to Play! on the 12th, so if anyone else is going, let me know so that we can say hello, perhaps, at some point in the concert.
Also, not surprising, considering I'm a water sign, we find that water is my dominant element.
And with that, good night. I have to get up in the morning for work.

Date: 2006-07-05 11:24 am (UTC)I liked the second article on not being a Christian Nation. It's true. One of the main ideas of America was that it would be a place for people to come to to get away from religious persaecution - hence William Penn and the Quakers settling in PA, and the Protestants settling in Massachusets...of course, that went out the window when they started persecuting witches
I think if more lawmakers would remember that this country was deliberately NOT founded in religion, things might be a little better. Don't we have separation of church and state AND freedom of religion? Sure, but not like you'd really notice it. It drives me barmy that at nerly every single Kiwanis meeting things start up with a prayer to the Christain God. Why should we pray to him? What's wrong with mentioning the Goddess? oh, but don't do that. That makes you a witch, and being a witch is bad and satanic. *rolls eyes*
Gota love this country sometimes.

Date: 2006-07-05 12:01 pm (UTC)The lawmakers find that the country wasn't founded in religion, but they choose to ignore that in favor of the knowledge that most of the people in the country were religious at the time. Since most of these people think all good religious folk are like them, why of course they wrote the religion into the country's documents! And if they were stopped, it was by some ebil Satanic conspiracy to keep religion out! It was always meant to be there, and I'm going to stick my fingers in my ears and yell loudly until you agree with me!

Also need to find out if El Paso has any cons. There's a big one in Dallas, but I don't think the timing works for me this year.
Oh, and I just printed the second playtest set for Brown Noser, we're playing it today. I look forward to it!

3) Tee-hee. Whoopi Goldberg as the spirit of the earth. Somehow still fitting even after this time.
