Yeah, weekend shift time. Got the Dawn-to-Dusk shift, which is opening to closing. Pulled that today at the other library. Lots of fun, really. (And on Sunday, I'll also have an Open-to-close shift. Fun-fun-fun.) Admittedly, though, I'm getting all the exposure to a library job that I want, and I still like it.

The Slacktivist's post on the Prairie Muffins brought a need for clarification/further discussion, and so we get Down on a Muffin, where some of the traits of the Manifesto are praised, others regarded with disdain and contempt. Comments to the entry are varied and wide, and break out in a bit of a scuffle here and there, including stuff about modesty and the rather immodest display of it.

True or not true, the following? I can't decide. Jewish Family Flees Aggressive Christianity. The way things are described, it sounds incredible. At the same time, thanks to people like Fred Phelps, it could happen, if all the same types of people were gathered in the same town. Can anyone find corroboration or discrediting on this? I'd really like to know whether it's true or not.

A blog for those thinking or already going indie with their music: You Are the Music Industry. The 02 June post, marked "Grand Theft Audio", is a good way of explaining how traditional methods are failing.

Beginning technological breakthroughs: A device that may be able to stop seizures from happening before they start. It'll take a few iterations to get to that point, but it'd be nice to see that turn out (and what about that potential biological AIDS cure/vaccine that I linked a while ago? Any more information on that?)

On the data-storage side, perhaps we'll be seeing TB-storage capability in laptop size. If that's possible, I wonder what sort of storage would be possible in desktop size, assuming the design could be scaled up. PB possibilities, maybe?

Simple question spawns sarcastic and silly answers: "Why is it that the United States, which has not suffered a major terrorist attack at home for more than four years, thinks it's at war, while the United Kingdom, which was hit by a major terrorist attack just a year ago, does not?"

Pairing articles together (I do seem to like to to do this, don't I?), we produce the argument: Some Christian Observations on Paganism and Wicca, circa 2002. (We hope in four years that the positions stated in this article have changed) The response: Thanks, But No Thanks, or: If you can't do accurate and total research, then don't bother making critiques. (Or: If you don't want to see us from our perspective, then don't be surprised if we say you don't understand)

On the subject of magic and/or making mindforms that work: Channeling Sailor Mercury might help your memorization.

And, [livejournal.com profile] aoanla told me I need to find ten things I like or am interested or such things that start with the letter S. Here's my best shot.

1. Silver. My birth sign's metal, my favorite color (not to be confused with grey), and the metal that, if I had money and could find jewelry I liked, I'd wear.

2. Sexuality. An interesting subject for all people, including myself. I don't think I have a complete definition of my own, and because of that, I like to study others and see what they're about. Although, even if I should manage a complete profile of myself, I hope I don't lose interest in the subject - because there will always be something new.

3. Shimomura. Composer of Kingdom Hearts soundtrack. Since I'm on the KH kick right now, this definitely counts.

4. Sony. Because of their catering to RPGs, Sony systems are the ones I use for console gaming. At least, so far. I suspect that Nintendo's going to be the clear winner in the next console generation war.

5. Science Fiction/Fantasy. My home genres of fiction. Most of what I read is from there.

6. Special effects Always a fan of figuring out the camera and digital work that's done. I love seeing the illusions put together and how the stuff works to make movies work.

7. Snoi. White, fluffy, best savored with a mug of cacao and a blanket. And just letting the flakes drift by...

8. Silliness. Something I'm going to have to cultivate a lot of if I'm going to succeed at my profession. Also, something to help shake off the glum when things don't go according to plan.

9. Subreality. A concept created by Kielle (Rest in Peace, madame) of a cafe where Writers and their fan-fictives could interact. The cafe's world expanded outward into a whole Subreal city and universe. Not many writers around now, though, but that could change at any moment. It's a free-form sort of place, with conventions rather than rules. Although there is a bit of tension there as at least one Writer wants to start more strongly enforcing the conventions. We'll see how it turns out.

10. Soulbonding. A phenomenon and philosophy that is useful to use to explain why I let characters run around in my head with semi-autonomy. Whether they're just fragments of my mind that I use for dialogue, visitors from another dimension, or just collections of ideas that I keep around, soulbonds are useful things for archetyping and other work.

So, anyway. Bedtime, because of work tomorrow.

That toally works with my idea what Gods are. I mean I don't think Mizuno Ami is a God, but it fits in the context, I think.

I know this is random, but I was just wondering if Becca got there safely with her move. There haven't been any posts yet and I thought you would know.
Cheers!

I got here...quarter after 5ish yesterday. We've got a really spotty internet connection until one of my roommates sets up cable, so I'll be on sporadically and/or wind up at the library or somewhere to do my updating. :)
