Today was a slightly hectic day. The storms are just running through, and the wind is running high, so we're powering down after this unit. Here are your links. Hopefully, power stays on in the mornign for the alarm!

Multimedia on your business card or smaller. HP Memory Spots send audio/video to nearby devices using RFID technology. So you can get lots more data out of your tag. Supposedly requires the reader to be about a milimeter away to pick up the data. We'll see if that holds up to the hacking community.

Possible Parkinson's treatment discovered - in the rats, the neurons return after a regimen. Wonder if it can be used to work on memory-loss diseases, too.

Public and Private Schools running near-even in study. About the only people lagging behind in mathematics are conservative Christian schools. If you read further in the article, though, you see that while there's been lots of peer-review, there's not much usefulness to the study (Then why do it and waste our money?) It adjusts for various factors to take away the edge that private schools claim (which is probably a raw score advantage). I dunno. Statistics says whatever you want it to say, if you look at it right.

A handy guide from the fine folks at POEE: Dealing with the Ding-Dongs, or waxing prophetic with the Witnesses.

RFID tags are a wonderful idea, but they're far too easy to hack. If I remember correctly, there was an article in Wired about that a few issues back.
Also, the POEE article was highly amusing, and I'll probably try that next time someone comes around. I should answer the door wearing the huge silver pentacle necklace my friend gave me and my cloak from my renfaire costume.

I have learned to set the alarm on my cell phone. That way if the power goes out then I'll still wake up lol.

Hope you survived the storms ok, they were pretty bad.
