And I didn't actually play much for video games - I watched baseball instead. And I took on some of [livejournal.com profile] annaonthemoon's stuff in anticipation of her move. Also got to see my older sister for a bit. And as we were setting up a second load to take over to my house, [livejournal.com profile] annaonthemoon missed her last porch step and fell. So now she's laid up in my bed, with her foot up and wrapped and slightly iced (not enough cubes in the tray, really, for more than a short icing). So I hope a good night's sleep, if such is possible, will help her mend.

Me? I'm holding up as much as one can under the circumstances... I'm beginning to wonder if I'm being sucked into a bad luck vortex or something and dragged along for the ride when it comes to her rapid-fire sequences of bad and worse luck. Oh, well. Such is the nature of life, I suppose. It would be nice, though, for a good thing to happen to her rather than a bad thing.

In the links department, we lead off with a tool. It's got everything to you need to tool around and more.

For those who feel strongly enough about evolution and its merits, one could join the Friends of Charles Darwin. Their original quest was to get Darwin on a UK banknote, which they succeeded in doing (a 10-pound note), but they're still around. Perhaps another quest for Darwin will appear, and they will be at it again. If you like, you can join up with them in anticipation of the return of the wielder of the Chainsaw of Evolution.

For comparison to each other, and in a sort of opposition to the Darwin Friends, we present: Conversations with G-d, and Armour of G-d Pajamas. Yep. Pajamas.

The following is an opinion that I happen to like quite a bit - every time people panic and overreact to other people because they think they're terrorists or something, the terrorists are getting what they want. You know, "terror-ism", a philosophy of terror. Every time people are terrified, and every time other people use fear and terror to advance their goals, the terrorists gain more power. Without actually having to do anything. If they want to make us scared, then dammit, they'd better have to work at it! Or, perhaps the terrorist threat is being grossly overstated. If that's so, then there are a lot of opportunists in the political realm that are taking advantage of the fear they propagate, and to which I would sentence them to the Malebolge (at least, I think they'd end up in Malebolge. If not, remind me of the right circle to put them in). England during the IRA, and Israel on almost any day of the week, deals with people who use terror-type methods. People end up dying because some people feel that blowing things and people up is an excellent way of getting your point across. But giving into the fear is problematic, because governments can do far more damage than terrorists. Guarding against people trying to blow you up is good. Being paranoid about them to the point where you do their job for them is bad.

Anyway, bedtime. The pain seems to have subsided enough for all persons involved to have a restful sleep.
