A reasonably good day today. The rest of the assignment came in nicely, and I did lose to [livejournal.com profile] annaonthemoon at Literati tonight... I got stuck holding the bag with Q and Z and she went out. It was not very pretty. So I suppose my Literati skills... aren't. (Didn't help that I passed twice when I had seven consonants, either.)

A triad of craft pieces - first, a btie to eat, which I suspect is probably the recommended serving size for all those foods. Then, Tux, the 3-dimensional cake, making the Linux mascot out of chocolate. Last, Katamari Yarnball! (with real magnets to help pick things up!)

Exploding laptop battery ignites panic. Another laptop on fire. Was there just a bad batch of batteries manufactured or what? What'll happen when someone's ThinkPad lights up on the plane itself? That could have interesting implications - and will the Air Marshals arrest someone when that happens?

Not much from my end, considering not much was done. The fun probably starts tomorrow, when I find out how to do my "This is my summer internship" presentation.

if my vaio sets my plane on fire....it won't be pretty. Hmm. Maybe i'll detach the battery from the laptop during the flight.

I'm still not over that the mini burger and fries were actually edible.

Did you check out the board for it? It was one of the challenges (to make tiny stuff). The burger was the winner, but there are some other cute (and poorly made) stuff there as well.

i don't suppose proper names are allowed in literati (i know they're not allowed in scrabble), but if you spell my handle with a "y" (pyrzxqgl) it's a word from a book by l. frank baum that might be allowed depending on how literate a group you're playing with...

It might be something that wold be negotiable if we were playing in person, but Litetati is run by Yahoo, and it doesn't allow proper names at all, and sometimes tels you your word isn't a word when you can look it up in a dictionary if you needed to.

see, that's the thing... even though it's my "handle" and not a proper name in the strictest sense of the word, i don't think "pyrzxqgl" appears in any dictionary, except maybe an "OZ-ish" dictionary, because "pyrzxqgl" is a word that was made up by l. frank baum, and yahoo is particularly ignorant when it comes to made-up words... 8/

We'll have to play real scrabble. I might be able to fit travel scrabble into my bag...if I can find it. hmmm. maybe it's still at your house after all?
