Although, I suppose that's not officially true, as I started writing some of what I think will be the final webpage. Although I've run into a problem - I'm not sure whether I should be focusing more on the narrative or on the collection of sources that form the backend of it. I'm not sure whether I'm telling a story or amassing a bibliography. Probably both, but it necessitates an e-mail to the professor asking for clarification. I'd like to know what I'm supposed to be spending the majority of my time on. Because I feel like if I make a three-page website with a ten-page report, then either my scope or my understanding didn't quite hit the mark. But if all she wants is a three-page bibliography with a ten-page report on the amassing and compilation of said bibliography... then it's gonna be a stretch making ten pages. To distract you from this ramble, have a dramatic photograph with some smug text underneath.

Anyway, beyond that point, I also had most excellent ribs cooked by [livejournal.com profile] greyweirdo. There was also much merriment to be had in the company - the locale changed, as [livejournal.com profile] greyweirdo wanted to show off the Mini Cooper to as many people as possible in one sitting. Nice car, that Mini. Might want one for myself at some point. When, you know, all the debts are paid and that.

I also got to see Magglio put the Detroit Tigers in the World Series for the first time since 1984. When he hit the ball, I knew it was a home run, and I had earlier been joking that the situation was the kind where you hit a home run and are the hero, or you strike out and go to extra innings. I tip my hat to the Detroit organization, for once again proving that every now and then, relying on your farm system and the draft does produce teams of championship caliber. I didn't actually watch any of the U-M - PSU game, but it sounds like the game was a real trench war for both sides, considering the score. Iowa, though, after being upended by Indiana, may be looking for revenge next week.

Borrowed Okami from [livejournal.com profile] droewyn, and was unexpectedly gifted with someone's spare copy of the Special Editions of Star Wars IV-VI. I need to get my hands on an unedited copy at some point, if it's available. Either way, it should be interesting taking command of the Celestial Brush.

Alternet speculates on something that I've been wondering about myself - does G.W. Bush think that War with Iran is foreordained? That it's the beginning of the Armageddon, and that there should be a rapture soon after it begins? I'd rather he not test that theory, for my own sake - if I'm going to be raptured, I might feel gypped out of a good life. If I'm not, I'd rather not have trials and tribulations happen in my lifetime, thanks. Something slightly more defeatist, I suspect says that the United States is finished as a civilized nation because of the recent legislation passed and signed. If the apathy continues, then there's a good chance we're done, yes, but at the same time, one wonders whether it will take someone they know disappearing before things start to move again.

[livejournal.com profile] greywerido remarked about a difficulty the troops in Afghanistan are having, namely that they have to fight 10-foot tall cannabis trees. The trees are great at masking thermal signatures, and they don't cut, crush, or burn easily. Definitely a difficulty for finding insurgents.

A piece of fiction, although according to the writer, it's closer to the truth than anything we'll see - Confessions of a 9/11 Hitman. This account, were it true, would probably further fuel the speculation that it was an inside job, sponsored and used by the government. I don't think the truth about this incident will appear until well after all its actors are dead.

I have finally managed to string together something that I think would be worthy of [livejournal.com profile] idan_cohen's attention. Here we go. First, Eros: Rodin and Picasso, and Eros in Modern Art, which are fairly not safe for work, and could get your job revoked if you're a schoolteacher in Texas. Or something. Now that you're all hot and bothered and primed, here's the second pairing - [livejournal.com profile] idan_cohen takes on the assumption that all men want is sex, and then takes a swing at the 'Nice Guy' theory. Go going from Eros to sex to dating, this whole segment should probably be rated NC-17 and taught in schools as part of sex ed or something.

And now that I've titillated all of you sufficiently, I think I'll let this post end.
