The week starts again.
Oct. 24th, 2006 01:21 amBetter today. Compiled assignment, went to class. Feel purposeful again. Ready to go for more tomorrow. Also put some time into Okami, which makes me feel better, for some reason. I'm liking the style of the game, and I'm definitely appreciating the nuances of the game - they show you things that you have to pay attention to, and then interpret correctly, for it to make sense. Very interesting.
Science holds some promises for the visually impaired - using technology that I suspect is derived from creating many megapixel cameras - a silicon retina may soon be able to perform the functions of the real one. The image quality isn't the greatest, in the pictures that are from the article, but once it works, then it becomes a matter of refining the image to greater quality. This is probably science that the Pope would approve of - there are some though, that the Pope tells us to avoid Icarus's fate over.
The Whiskey Bar (a blog) tells us a little bit about why the Foley sex scandal is hurting the GOP, and why the GOP is firing back with sexual indiscretion ads of its own against the Democrats. It's Tickling the Limbic System using TV and advertisements to appeal to or make people fear things like sex and death. It's marketing to the places that the conscious brain generally doesn't tread, but that can swing a decision one way or another.
Speaking of sex, if you want to know whether parents are out in left field with regards to their teenagers and sexuality, take a gander at the 100 Teen vs. 100 Parent Promiscuity Poll. I suppose it's part of being a parent, but they're not guessing too high. Some of those parents, though, want no part in the discussion and don't want to hear about it. Those kind of parents scare me, because they're the ones I expect to have to deal with, "Mom, Dad, I'm/my girlfriend's pregnant." more than others. And on a totally different note, although still related to sex (isn't everything relatable to sex in some way), as a consequence of being in existence, I suspect, the UK sex offender registry has more people on it this year than last.
In the "well, duh" file, "Bush faces political nightmare if Democrats win". No, really - having a party in power that's not going to rubberstamp you, might actually put an investigation into what you were doing, and try to maintain the checks and balances is a nightmare? That's crazy talk. Actaully, wait, no. This is crazy talk - Mark Foley and other gay Republicans are actually closeted Democrats! That's how the Democrats are responsible for the scandal - it was their secret agents infiltrating the GOP! See what the sane world thinks about that particular stunt at Foley is the Ghee! on Obsidian Wings On something slightly more sane, Barak Obama may be considering a Presidential run.
Something neat, though - if you know your way around casting, here's some instructions to make a Green Lantern ring.
Anyway, bedtime. And tomorrow we go-go-go!
