silveradeptThere’s been a bit of a resurgence in the “explain your interests to us” thing going around, and in my usual fashion, I’ve decided to pervert the question. I want you, the reading audience, to look at my profile and select an arbitrary single-digit prime number of interests of mine, or to create a list, also of the length of a single-digit prime number of things you know are my interests that are not on my profile list (or a little of column A and a little of column B), and then leave your list in a comment. After some arbitrary length of time, I will compile all the lists and then attempt to explain the interests that have been listed to the best of my ability.
To keep you entertained, here are answers to questions that I asked in the poll about self-awareness.
What is every who what why when where hows?
A reporter’s worst nightmare, or best mnemonic, one of the two.
What is the cube root of 216?
216 ^ (1/3) = 6.
Depends on the person in question, doesn’t it?
Not particularly. I’ve always thought maths were fairly inflexible from person to person.
Is there really no such thing as coincidence?
Scientifically, I’d say coincidence does not exist, at least as we think of it. There is a causation for all actions, and there is the random chance that two actions will interact in a beneficial way, or that two exceedingly similar actions will happen at the same time or sequentially in such a way that the brain will form a pattern, even if one does not exist. But simply two things happening at approximately the same time, co-incidence, is a regular occurrence in our world, from the subatomic level to the galactic level. So, on one level, yes. On another, no.
Why a duck?
--The chickens were too busy crossing the road
--The hawks were too busy plotting
--The vultures were too busy feasting.
--Because it’s the only logical way to prove that SHE’S A WITCH! BURN HER!
--Aflac decided to merge with the lizard instead.

Date: 2007-10-17 07:34 pm (UTC)Magick wth the k is to distinguish that I am interested in the spiritual philosophies that say that will and energy applied in the right frame of mind exert changes on our environment, whether internally or externally. I'm also interested in illusionists and prestidigitators, which is the more common form of magic.

1000 Blank White Cards is the Discordian's card game - every card must have a point value, but beyond that, the art, the writing, and what the card actually does is up to the person drawing on the card. One starts with blank cards (and maybe some pre-drawn ones), and simply draws more and draws more. Eventually, the game ends, a winner may be declared (but the points don't matter), and the good cards are kept for the next round.
And aporhisms, one of the many ways of compressing wisdom into an easily recallable format. There's plenty of room for debate as to whether a particular aphorism is actually true or applicable to any given situation. They're best used when one sentence really will do to explain something, with or without the want/need to appear aloof.

We were looking for the Groucho Marx film where the brothers take over a resort Florida. Groucho is explaining geographic features to Chico.
