Making it all work, one way or another. But, for as fast as I can make it, here's the news.

A new PBS documentary - Torturing Democracy. For some places, it will air after the election has occurred. For others, who are bucking the national PBS trend, it will air earlier. And it's available on-line, of course...

Internationally, Another al-Qaeda leader killed, even as Pakistan is on the verge of a meltdown, and the UK still plans on trying to track you everywhere you go and monitor everything you do.

Domestically, a truism. Better-educated people know more about politics and what's going on in the world.

Something that we may have suspected for a long time, and yet another reason to be pissed off if you get a "Hey, TSA searched your bags!" notice - An airport screener at the Newark airport has been arrested for stealing electronics found in passenger bags and selling them on eBay. Why was he caught? He tried to take professional video equipment from news and entertainment crews.

In candidate matters, the picture worth a thousand campaign sound bites, of which a lot of papers are saying the debate was McCain's last hurrah, even as some of them claim McCain won the debate. The McCain campaign complaining that their YouTube stuff keeps getting nailed by DMCA notices, to which YouTube responds, "Suck it, Trebek". Now that you know what the peons have gone through, maybe you'll think about making fair use more fair. In further setbacks to the Republicans, the Supreme Court just tossed the largest suit filed by the GOP against ACORN.

The ugliness from McCain supporters continues, this time with stereotypical black foods painted on "Obama Bucks" posing as food stamps, and the people who made it say "Oh? That had a racist context? We didn't realize that. Sorry." Beyond that, after the whole "ACORN is committing fraud" line came from the GOP, ACORN organizers received death threats and their offices were vandalized. It's an ugly election, and the supporters are making it that way even more. Even when they deny that it's about race, but affirm they won't vote for a black candidate. Or an outlet calling itself a news organization juxtaposes Colin Powell's hip-hop skills with a possible announcement he would endorse Senator Obama. Because, y'know, he's black. And he puts state flags on the background of his speeches in those states, an accusation for which even Michelle Malkin had to say, "Look, morons. It's the Ohio state flag. Seriously".

Donald Lambro still feels the refundable tax credits of an Obama presidency are not tax cuts but welfare, with all the ugliness that goes with that word. Thomas Sowell still thinks Senator Obama is a liar when his words and his past are compared to each other (and of course, the mainstream media are dutifully hiding this as much as they can). Although, I have to admit, the idea behind the Head O State (oh, so very NSFW) is funny.

CNS continues to decisively declare that success has occurred in Iraq, which kind of continues to mess with any credibility they might have. The Culture and Media Institute laments the decline of our values, because Big Media promotes homosexuality unthinkingly and promotes the cult of personality of Barack Obama, and so it was a wonderful thing, to them, to see that Religulous came in behind An American Carol on the grossing lists, proving solidly that conservative and family values still outshine progressive ones. And when the NAACP joins the fight against defining marriages in discriminatory ways, Harry R. Jackson, Jr. is right there to claim that the NAACP is abandoning black families, because of the meme that says blacks would do much better if they would just straighten up, get married, and stay that way.

All that's left from here on out? Get Out The Vote. Convince the people around you to do their civic thing, and if you can, do so even knowing they might not be deciding definitely in favor of your candidate. If not that, at least get the people who you know are favorable to your cause out and voting.

Holy Taco believes that truth in advertising is a lot more blunt than we think, Settlers of Catan is coming to the Nintendo DS, finding out that the junk in our DNA has potential use, using programs to try and understand alien language communications, a sleep mask that displays one's destination, in hopes that friendly strangers will wake you at your stop, the ten best microscope photos of the year, and a pen that can write in individual atoms. Awesome!

Last for tonight, the October holiday stories are starting to appear. Man crushed by tombstone. I doubt that will be making it onto Worldometers any time soon, but you never know.
