Oh, by the way...
Dec. 22nd, 2008 02:23 pm...that scream of incoherent rage, followed by the explosion that VEWPRF Headquarters wondered what the hell was going on? That was me, finding out that my car doesn't have sufficient traction to get uphill on snow-covered ground, and I lack methods of additional traction, and thus must take an unscheduled vacation day.
The upside is that things opened late and are likely to close early, so I probably wouldn't have gotten much for work and programs done today. And there's always tomorrow. Perhaps the roads will be clear. Perhaps I will find that I have additional traction materials. Perhaps not. Happy Holidays, everyone. I'll be over here, willing that my death glare could melt the snow enough that I could not be trapped, or at least I could bring my car back into a driveway, rather than having it sit on the road. Nowhere in danger, but... grah. I'm thinking that next year, I'm going to ask someone to make it possible to mount flamethrowers or some other applied heat device to the front of my vehicle so that I can always have dry pavement in front of me. Either that, or I'm getting in the market for extra traction and a car with a TCS that can handle snow.

Date: 2008-12-23 01:42 am (UTC)Can you buy snow chains? I mean, are they something that come with the car/tires or something you add on?

Date: 2008-12-23 02:32 am (UTC)Frankly, I'm most annoyed at the fact that had someone run a plow through this street at some point, I would have probably been able to get out without difficulty, as the stuff that I has shoveled has shown as bare pavement by now. So now I'm annoyed at the car because it couldn't go, and at the road crews, because there aren't enough of them to be able to do the simple operations that would probably have the road cleared.
