Sources: Of course, there's the people in the reading feeds on two services and the Twitter feeds, which are usually links passed along by friends and have no real rhyme or reason (sort of - we do have an Unabashed Feminism Department, after all), but for websites...
I usually start at The Barry Bittwister's Cabal, a compilation of all sorts of unique and non-mainstream places. I usually stop off at American Samizdat for some alternative-to-paranoid views, Monkeyfilter for oddities and ends, KurzweilAI for a lot of the technology-progression press releases and bits, and Klintron's TechnOccult and his new project, MediaPunk.
From there, we look at Equalitopia, keeping track of LGBT issues, Jesus' General on religious things and the ridiculous things that some people will use their religion to justify, and Musings & Migraines, who only chirp in occasionally, but always well.
For the weird and wonderful of some parts of Japan, Pink Tentacle is your resource.
As for actual news and a sampling of conservative opinion, I get my feed from the unabashedly conservative QuickNews, figuring that a representative sample of things that conservatives are interested in will show up here. Sometimes that means fodder for making fun of silly opinions, other times, it's a good way of keeping tabs on the issues important to the right-leaning side of the country.
That's pretty well how things go - it sometimes creates running themes, sometimes a paucity of stuff, and sometimes an overabundance. Pick and choose and away we go.
