I recall though dimly the one time a Kumon meeting was attended, curious to learn what sort of dazzlingly mathematically-skilled mind would receive a certain award, signifying superiority over all others... and witnessing that award given to someone because that person had been doing Kumon as a way to kill time while hospitalised. 'Go die meaninglessly and then maybe someone will approve of you'...)
