Challenge #12 makes all of our TB[R/W/P/etc.] lists cry out in fear of becoming bigger still.

The recommendation challenges are the ones where it turns up that I don't actually do a lot of canon consumption, nor do I do a lot of fanwork consumption. Sure, I write, and I read gifts and other things in the exchange collections where I can. I work in a place people assume would be full of reading time, but no. It's not the same situation as "the fastest way to put someone off of sweets is to have them work in a confectionary and let them eat whatever they want," but more like permanent tsundoku.

However, I have enough approximate knowledge of things, or stuff to pull from the past, that I can at least give this an attempt at a countdown-srtyle thing.

• Five Non-Fannish Communities on Dreamwidth to Contribute To:
  
  1. onesongaday: an impressively eclectic collection of tastes, styles, genres, and artists. The rule is that you post only one song a day (in your timezone). More people, more music!
  
  
  2. awesomeers: a community about posting one of your Ws from today. Just one thing, no more needed. Cheer on the participants as well.
  
  
  3. metaquotes: bon mots, l'espirit d'escalier, and other eminently quotable things originating on Dreamwidth. Often funny, sometimes poignant, usually local.
  
  
  4. common_nature: Pictures of plants and animals commonly found in nature, and usually the nature that is all around us and not noticed until we stop to look at it. (Other things, too, but pictures are common.)
  
  
  5. capslock_dreamwidth: SOME THINGS DEMAND CAPSLOCK. ALL THINGS IN THE COMMUNITY HERE ARE CAPSLOCK! (AND YES, THEY CHECK.)
  
  
• Four December Days Series that Probably Say Way More About silveradept than they Think
  
  1. Baseball Tarot: As one might guess, talking about oracles, cards, and their meanings shows more about the interpreter than it does the items themselves.
  
  
  2. Things I Should Have Learned In Library School (Had I Been Paying Attention): Often times where thoughts about the professional part of the profession goes, and often where thoughts about where the profession is going off-piste ends up going.
  
  
  3. Pac-Man Fever: When you play games, you learn a lot about yourself and others. And they also learn plenty about you, too.
  
  
  4. A Sea of Adjectives: I put the fate of what I was going to talk about in the hands of others, let them tell me what they thought of me, and then tried to see me the way they did.
  
  
• Three Really Cool Podfics of Stories I Wrote
  
  1. Subject: Doctoral Defense Protocols (GoLBPodfics): A Snake Fight universe story detailing procedures for the upcoming dissertation defense window, including some material snarking about LLM usage in the Snake Fight processes.
  
  
  2. And the Cartomancy Caper (kisahawklin): The Librarians chase an artifact that Warehouse 13 is also interested in acquiring, an RWS tarot deck that apparently can tell the future.
  
  
  3. Chat Noir's Cosplay Convention Crisis (Devidlg, reena_jenkins): done with love by people who understand conventions and social media and makes it all work out nicely through the use of audio cues and narration changes. Also, a story about a superhero blending in with all the cosplayers until the big reveal at the end.

And there we are! It took me a lot of thinking to figure out what categories to use, honesty, because, again, recs for things are my short suit. Onward to the next challenge!

You're welcome. One of the things it seems that everybody misses about Old LiveJournal is the communities that were hopping, so I hope that at least some of these might get some new people contributing and some more critical mass.

Thank you for the community recs. I remember joining a few capslock communities back during LJ's heyday, and I wasn't aware there was one for DW. Seeing some communities really reflect those old LJ comm days gives me that kind of nostalgia.
