Election Day 2011
Nov. 8th, 2011 07:54 amYes, it's an off year, for those of us in the United States. So even if there aren't any major national races, check out your ballot and go vote today. At least one state is voting on whether or not unions deserve to be able to collectively bargain. Another is considering whether or not a fertilized egg in a woman's uterus should be considered a person, and thus things such as abortion and contraception made illegal, and miscarriages be investigated as crimes.
Even if your local races don't have much zing, check out your ballot initiatives. Whether on liquor privatization, union bargaining, or "personhood", it's one of the few ways where your direct democratic vote has an impact. So don't shirk your ballot, please. (Even if you know full well that all of the people running in your races are Rich Guys vs. Rich Guys.)
