A thing for your reading pleasure
Feb. 28th, 2012 12:29 amA funny thing happened while on the help desk today...
A parent called in to ask us whether we had our YA section separated out by smaller age divisions, because she was concerned about the content of a graphic novel her child was reading. Said graphic novel was Americus, a novel about a boy who gets motivated to fight against would-be religious zealots getting his favorite fantasy series banned from the public library.
And thus, the parent was concerned about the content of a book about a boy fighting people who were... concerned about the content of a book.
As Agent 86 was famous for saying... "Missed it by that much."
