I've been having a little bit of a year of fandom, I gueses, deciding that creaive exercise is best done rather than left undone. So, at this sixth month, here's the collected works that I've doe so far in various fiction exchanges:

Summary:
In a break between adventures, Terra summons her father to try and learn more about her life before the Empire. Maduin tries to establish a rapport with the daughter he lost so long ago.

This was the first one for this year, and it was a happy start, as the recipient very much enjoyed what I provided. Nothing helps build confidence like someone saying they liked your work.

Another good effort, in terms of the recipient enjoying what they were getting.

My first treat offering, because the prompt was so good and I have a distinct nostalgia for that game series.

This is by far the most kudoed work of this year. I apparently tapped a small bit of a vein of fandom there - sometimes it helps to be in the right place at the right time. This one worked out pretty good.

Tapped another nice fandom, and it's my first play in an AU-style setting, so I'm getting many of those things checked off the fandom bucket list, yeh? I liked the prompt for this one quite a bit, so I went with it.

Summary:
Those who seek truth are not always ready when they find it, nor do they accept it easily. A man, hurt as a boy, looks for answers, but only finds the truth.

And this is the biggest one I've done to date. Also the one that I did where I knew the person who would be receiving it outside of the exchange. Let's say that I was really, really nervous about whether this one would go over well or not before the reveal. But then it got a Best Gift designation from the recipient, and the anxiety subsided.

This piece might be why I'm doing this...because I'm pretty sure I heard an unstated threat from

amarie24, who played beta on many of these pieces, to deny me lemon bars if I didn't actually post and let them know when this particular one was available.

So, that's what I've been up to in terms of building up my presence and works on AO3. There are more exchanges to be had this year, so maybe come December, there will be another summary post. It's nice deciding that you're just going to participate. And the kudos and comments help, too, because it's still nerve-wracking to put your work out there and see whether or not anyone responds.
