In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.

Have I mentioned lately that I have a very strong mental block on asking for things I want? It's partially from my upbringing, where it was firmly put in my head that you don't get things that are frivolous unless you can pay for them in cash. And, notably, I never had much cash as a child.

Then there was a life situation where there was no spare money left for me to consider things I might want after I had taken care of the needs of the humans and the animals and the wants of the other person. (Who would occasionally be upset that I would pass on something fun because frankly, we couldn't afford it for one of us, much less both.

This is not a costs-money list, and that makes it easier for me to actually make a request that people might be interested in seeing or doing. If it ends up being a costs-money thing to create something, hide it. Unless it's a tiny expense or you can spin it in such a way that I will believe it didn't inconvenience you at all to do the thing, because there is a minefield of "I asked you to spend resources for something frivolous for me" guilt brainweasels lurking just behind the sign denoting their territory, and they love to swarm.

Things that I would enjoy that are fannish:

I have a skewed idea of the amount of effort that goes into writing versus art, because I find wordsing less difficult than drawing. But I would really enjoy art, podfic, or vids of exchange prompts or ideas that I've put out that either didn't come into being or already had a story written for them. With the usual caveats that such things should be lowest priority, because guilty brainweasels are at the gates and they insist that I'm not important enough for someone to put me anywhere more than at the permanent back of the queue.

jenett has a fabulous icon with the phrase 'Virgo Hufflepuff: Details Managed". I think it's a brilliant idea. For me, it would be to be "Cancer Hufflepuff: _____ Managed." I'm not entirely sure what goes in the blank, but an icon of that nature would be great.

Just in general, it's really hard for me to find material that's Hufflepuff House stuff. War Badgers and other great things would be appreciated. As would anyone who has a line on the sort of clings you can put on windows, and then reposition on windows, of Princess Luna and the Nightmare versions of her and Celestia from My Little Pony. I inherited a set that had the main characters and Celestia, and it feels entirely too empty without the other characters present. (This is mildly embarrassing to admit to, because Great Prime, the way people look and talk about the peripheral fans of that show, and the behavior of some of those same fans, is the sort of thing that becomes a toxic cloud that threatens to drive people away from talking about it expressing interest in a decent show.)

For the good of your fellow fen, please have transformative works statements, make decisions about licensing your content by CC, GPL, or other ways, whether you want to or not, and please tag your works descriptive as well as amusingly, should you so decide to do so.

Peace on earth, good will towards fen, and also, if you have the ability to, would you please work to make sure that the world is better for creators and to dismantle copyright conglomerates that keep preventing good stuff from entering the public domain because they're not done squeezing us for every last penny?

I also just ordered some lovely art prints that include badgers from Hannah Willow (link to the open prints - I got Mother of All Herds II, And He Was Made of Stars, and Guardian of the Wild Lands, but she has some other most excellent badgers (and other things.)

I think I have found my word:

Cancer Hufflepuff: Anxieties managed.

Which ends up being partially the positive thing I wanted (I help other people manage their anxieties), and also the part where being who I am also comes with significant anxieties that also have to be managed.

I poked around a bit about Cancer qualities, and the best I could come up with is Relationships Managed or Emotions Managed. Really it seems to be Emotional Labor Managed, but I'm not sure that fits on an icon. Maybe those can be starting points for finding the right word for you.

See, I didn't know you were a Hufflepuff. What attracts you to the badger, if you don't mind expanding?

Well, I tend to consistently test Hufflepuff. (Except perhaps on Pottermore, if I tested, but I am fully skeptical of anything on Pottermore.)

I think the Sorting Hat Chats system of "primary, secondary, model, burned" is usually the idea I go with for determining house affiliation, and the Hufflepuff core they have is a person who is less loyal to the cause, whether because it feels right out they've concluded it is right after strong testing, and more "this needs changing because it is clearly hurting people" (which do not have to be "my people," as Slytherin is conceived to care mostly about). Which is the reason I keep coming back to when it comes to pointing out why things are terrible, but also that the Hufflepuff primary is about building communities of people and feeling that life is good when there are people in it.

But also because the Sorting Hat's rhymes and decisions in the original tended to play up "if you're brave or foolhardy, Gryffindor, if you have ambition, Slytherin, if you're clever and smart and want to pursue that without a care for the practicalities, Ravenclaw, and if you don't fit any of those, Hufflepuff." Given that my self-image doesn't contain great bravery, great ambition, or the pursuit of knowledge without limitations, Hufflepuff it is. House of the kitchens and the background.

Does that help or make sense at all? And it's entirely okay to say," Huh, could be sworn you were an X", because that might be my secondary showing through strongly.

I've never tried being sorted, despite being a Potter fan for many years. It's never really been my thing (I'm not much of a joiner, really), but I can see why you find Hufflepuff suits you. Kitchens are awfully nice places.

alatefeline pointed me your way and noted I may have Puff suggestions for you. My spouse and I have a bit of a tradition at this point where I get a Hufflepuff t-shirt every year for Yule. I know this year's came from Teepublic, and they mentioned it was hard to choose there were so many. Even if you're not looking to actually buy shirts or stickers, there's lots of fun designs to enjoy.

My favorite badger artist is, probably unsurprisingly, Ursula Vernon, but I also like Ravenari and Emma-Jayne Saanen. I also love this stained glass design.

Hello! Those are very nice badgers. (I think of War Badgers very specifically from Ursula Vernon's story about the Hogwarts founders, which has Helga Hufflepuff riding at the forefront of an army of such things to defeat a threat to the school.)

Teepublic does have nice designs. I will try to search in them more to find something that is of good design and also in my size.
